Worst dining experience we have had in RVA! The door was locked an hour after opening, which we should have taken as a sign... Despite us being the only table, the TV was so loud we could not comfortably speak to each other. The bartender was just there to watch the game. The food was passible- the burger had no seasoning at all, same with the avocado wontons. The burrata with peaches was fine, but the burrata was not fresh, and it wasn't even an entire peach... Overall, a miserable experience, and certainly NOT worth the price tag.

Smoke & Barrel has been stealing money from Shirai. Service sucks. She’s been nice and has given y’all many weeks to correct your mess ups and you have yet to do it. Stop playing and give her the money she’s owed or a civil suit will be filed.

First visited this place in May 2024. Went there for the second time last night and I was surprised to see how the place has changed. It seems to be more of a bar now. Also, I thought they had a larger seating area but maybe my memory is playing tricks on me. Hamburger was excellent. Service was fast. So much better than Helen’s where the burgers are overdone and the service moved at a snail’s pace. (I was there about 6 months ago.)

Food was mediocre, very mediocre. Service was great, bartender is working bar and tables (where is the help). Attractive atmosphere, minus the dust and 2 empty tables sitting in entrance. I hope this improves and good luck to the next patron. We really wanted to like this place.

Bar food. All hight tops. Best dish we had was the truffel fries. Local hangout. They have trivia which might indicate where the focus lies.

I don't know what to say with this. I last visited with a friend years ago and it was packed. Today I was the only patron. It doesn't reflect, necessarily, on the staff or offerings, but it's not a great sign? I still recommend it. Please go there. The food was good, the drinks, while they lacked the pageantry of old, were still good. It's worth your time and your waistline.

Will never be back to this place because they, like many restaurants, are complete liars. I ordered the very expensive Bistro Tender Steak for around $30 which they say clearly on the menu is 8oz. I almost choked when the waitress plopped that tiny little nug of meat on my plate. It was MAYBE 3oz (if that). I know my steak and the pictures advertised by the business are completely false.
Just be honest and don’t lie to people. Your food is really good but I will now never ever recommend your business because of this. You only hurt yourself when you lie, and judging by the lack of customers while I was there, you can’t afford to be losing people to deceptive marketing practices.

Smelled moldy, food was bland. Server was very nice!! Caesar salad was made wrong!? How do you forget the Parmesan? Took about an hour to get a side salad, wings and chicken Caesar salad. No other customers. Cook was busy making himself mixed drinks…what? Won’t go back!!
