Hands down one of the best seafood restaurants in Richmond, Virginia. I go here at least once a week. The peeled shrimp is one of my favorites and also the butterfly shrimp. They are very clean. It’s run by a family. They are so sweet and respectful.
“This meal hit the spot! 10/10. The fish was fried to perfection—very crispy on the outside.”
I got shrimp from here and they were disgusting. The seasoning was not good and the shrimp were not fresh they didn't even have them sitting on ice just in a fridge I knew I shouldn't have got them but I wanted to give a try first and last time eating there.
My go to seafood spot since I been in Richmond.
New people cooking, don't know them
Crab kickers were delicious

Imo, fish sandwich too much$. Spaghetti pasta with shrimp ok. Gotta get it in a bowl n stir before eating.
I ordered the 10 piece trout for dinner. There was an accident so I pulled out the Lysol wipes and had dinner in my car. The fish was seasoned and fried perfectly 👌
They charged my card , after I said I wanted a refund then goes to say there machine is not working, I understand said she has been in business for years but it’s seems like everytime I go in there their doing something wrong & over that past year she has fallen off
Fried seafood, it's very good.
I had a terrible experience at Sonya’s Seafood. I ordered two pieces of flounder and hush puppies, and shortly after eating, I got sick and threw up. I called the restaurant, and they told me to bring the food back. When I did, I was met with unnecessary hostility and disrespect. Even though I was calm and respectful, I was yelled at and told, “I don’t care if you ever come back.”
What’s especially frustrating is how often you see businesses set up in predominantly Black communities, only to treat the very customers who support them with complete disregard. We deserve better—safe food, respectful service, and accountability when something goes wrong. I will not be returning, and I hope others take this into consideration.
