Went on a Wednesday afternoon during Happy Hour from 3-6 pm. Great happy hour prices on adult beverages and appetizers, and the wait staff was outstanding and attentive to our needs.

In town for a wedding & the party decided to visit. Overall decent time for Richmond. My issue is with the doorman specifically with the middle eastern gentleman in the suit who works the door. I get to my hotel & realize I did not close my tab at the front bar. I walk back to the establishment & try to explain that I left while forgeting to close out my tab & came back only to close out my card. He proceeds to tell me they are not letting anyone in (which was not true of course)& I have to wait in this long line. Once again I try to explain I only want to close out my card & leave. In the middle of me explaining he turns & starts talking to the door security, ignoring me which was disrespectful. So I proceed to walk in & the police intervine in a professional way & they take my ID & go to the bar to see if I have any open tabs. Which is what the doorman in the suit could have easily done if he didnt want to let me back in. He is very rude & disrespectul. The situation could have escalated if not for the police stepping in. This establishment needs better representation & professionalism for those working the door. (Police said just dispute the charge & dont pay for anything at this place)

My bartender Don poured me one of the most perfect pours of my favorite beer by Midnight Brewing...the Blood Moon Bliss IPA.
Very relaxed atmosphere and inviting. Bonus, their back patio is dog friendly and they have water bowls and shade. Definitely will definitely be back with my doggy to enjoy the cooler weather with my pup.
Kid-friendliness: They've got kids menus and crayons and I saw some highchairs being used

I recently dined at Southern Railway Taphouse, and I had an exceptional experience, thanks in large part to my server, Cate. From the moment I sat down, Cate was attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable about the menu. She made excellent recommendations, and I could tell she genuinely cared about making my visit enjoyable.
The food was outstanding—everything was cooked to perfection and bursting with flavor. The atmosphere at Southern Railway Taphouse is inviting and laid-back, making it the perfect spot for a casual night out or a special occasion. To top it off, the prices were incredibly reasonable, especially considering the quality of the food and service.
Overall, Cate and the entire experience at Southern Railway Taphouse exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend visiting if you're looking for great food, a welcoming environment, and excellent value.
