They need to update their hours. The front door sign says they will be open as of June 9th. But locked up and they maybe just closing this location. I wouldn't have made the trip down if anything on Google said they were not here. ?

Every once in a while, I come across a place that people rant and rave about and when I finally check it out, I'm left feeling unsatisfied and confused. In my book, Sugar Shack takes the trophy for that. These donuts are thick and dense. Worst of all, they're not made to order. So every time you get them, the icing is hard and they're either cold or room temperature, if your lucky. If you've never had a donut straight out of the fryer, then you probably don't know what you're missing. I believe a warm semi crunchy outside with a moist and light inside is the way a real donut should be made. Lastly, their topping flavors are very underwhelming in my opinion. I'm really upset that I went against my better judgment and decided to give Sugar Shack a second chance. I rather would have thrown $20 in the trash, but atleast I have confirmation that these donuts suck. There are 3 places that I can easily think of that will be fulfilling my donut needs from here on.

For the vegan in the house, Sugar Shack has no less than 10 different (and delicious) vegan varieties (including their donut holes). For those not worried about that, there are plenty of other options that will satisfy any donut craving. I'm personally partial to their maple bacon donut, more proof that bacon is indeed's "God's currency" as Dave Grohl has stated. Their updated app makes ordering easy and fun, just double check that you are getting the right donuts (either chocolate or vanilla cake) with a few that offer both, as that's really the only place where our order went a bit wrong. Usually ready to pick up within a half hour, just order, include make and model of your car, drive up to the lot, and someone should be out with your order in a few minutes. Another Richmond staple doing ordering and pickup right. And it makes the car smell really good too!

Their communications management is horrible. On another page owned by this company, they publicized a gluten free day at this location and sarcastically said that for those who cannot handle cross-contamination can go to Krispy Kreme. Krispy Kreme doesn’t sell anything gluten free and never has claimed to. When dissenters came in the comments, whoever runs their page decided to lash out and insult those with concerns over their dismissal of a real autoimmune illness. They then proceeded to delete the negative comments when they came to their senses and blocked everyone with negative feedback. I don’t want to support a company that doesn’t care about the wellbeing of their customers.

This place does not at all care about the health of its customers with dietary restrictions, does not protect its staff from sexual assault, and has had multiple complaints about racism.

So they jacked up their prices a while ago. Fine, they have the best donuts in RVA. However, twice in the past two years I've driven out to the Regency Square location and they were not open. Just a sign saying,"Sorry for the inconvenience". Well, I'm sorry I drove 20 minutes out of my way to come to your shop. I can see why they ar closing left and right . . . poor management. It's a real shame, the place used to be kind of magical.

No one ever answers the phone and you can't order from the website. However the donuts are great!

There have been some serious issues with restaurant cleanliness and upkeep, product availability, and customer service. An example would be a dirty restaurant that midway though operating hours has little to no product left and the employees are short and rude. We came midway through the day once and were told they didn’t have any donuts other than the few that had been picked over and there were going to be no new donuts for quiet awhile. Pretty much the employees were telli

The toppings are fun but the actual doughnuts are very bland. The cake doughnuts are not bad, and it's a good place to grab a coffee, but the main draw leaves something to be desired.

I was so looking forward to visiting Sugar Shack for the first time. It was right on my way out of town and I stopped for donuts and coffee. This was on Saturday, December 28 at around 7:30 a.m. The first thing to note is that not all of the donuts were labeled so you had to ask what they were. This was okay as the person at the counter was pleasant and there was no line that I was holding up. Still, labels are helpful. I chose two donuts; on traditional and I can't remember the other but I'm sure it had chocolate somewhere on it. The donuts were bagged to go and I then went to pay and ordered coffee. It was then that was I told that "just want to let you know that we're out of lids." I asked if this was for all sizes. The clerk says yes and asked if I still wanted the coffee. I'm sorry but hot coffee, in a car, with no lid sounds nuts. When I commented that it wouldn't be a good idea and to just take it off the order, the clerk muttered something about someone not ordering lids. I think that there are multiple locations in the area. Couldn't they have borrowed from another store or just purchased some cups from the Walmart nearby? Donuts and coffee are a normal thing, I think, and again, how do you sell coffee to go with no lid. The donuts were okay, nothing to write home about. I probably would have enjoyed them more with the coffee. If I ever return, I'll update the review.
