Cool chic hipster vibe with yummy food but slow service. I ordered a club sandwich and the rye bread was to thin so the sandwich feel apart. I took over 45 mins to get my food with some people who ordered after me getting their food before me. Also people next to me got their same food same time as me but ordered 30 mins after. I prob would not come back but the vibe was cool with DJ. Place is also super loud. So if you are into loud hipster DJ vibe then come. If you just want a decent sandwhich maybe not.

Ordered their Reuben with fries. The fries were standard—nothing to write home about—but the Reuben was by far the worst I’ve ever had, and insanely overpriced.
The sandwich was overwhelmingly sauerkraut with maybe four thin slices of pastrami. (And yes, a traditional Reuben uses corned beef, which should have been my first red flag.) A proper Reuben should be generously stacked with meat; instead, this one felt skimpy, unbalanced, and completely unsatisfying. Charging $22 for a sandwich this small is not only offensive to the customer, but honestly out of touch with the Richmond dining community.
I’ve seen the owner respond to other reviews claiming they’re “proud” of their pastrami process and particularly of this Reuben. I genuinely disagree. Asking people to pay the equivalent of almost two hours of minimum wage in Virginia for what amounts to a mediocre, stripped-down version of a classic sandwich feels less like “pride in craftsmanship” and more like a pricing strategy that excludes and alienates the very community a neighborhood restaurant should be welcoming.
In short: disappointing, overpriced, and not something I’d recommend.

Excellent pastrami, great people, and a truly welcoming atmosphere. The owner and staff are amazing - you can tell they care deeply about creating a warm, community-focused space. I love coming here with my family and bringing friends along - it never disappoints.

Susie's Delicatessen is a must! The cocktails are not only delicious but beautiful! The marinated peppers and boquerones were so good I could eat it every day.

Excellent little restaurant. The selection of food and drink is limited but perfectly curated. I'm confident that their Reuben is easily the best I've ever had! The fries were great too. Looking forward to trying more of their offerings soon!

My husband and I are rueben obsessed- if it's on the menu, we order it and Susie's rueben the best we've had in a while, if not ever! The housemade pastrami is perfect, as is the amount of dressing and sauerkraut. Although my husband was initially skeptical of ordering the Phillip, a roasted cauliflower sandwich, it was an instant favorite, delicious, savory, and filling! We loved everything and can't wait to be back to try their drinks!

This is a regular spot for the family and always popular to bring folks from out of town. The food is consistently good, I'd venture to say that they're constantly getting better. The staff and service is also great. They worked with me to modify the schnitzel sandwich to be chicken tenders at the behest of a 4 year old and really saved the day.

If you’re looking for a delicious Reuben, this is the place! I love that they offer a half sandwich option, and their side salad is delicious with super fresh ingredients. The latkes are soooo good too!
