My wife and I certainly enjoyed our first visit to The British Embassy in downtown Richmond! We usually visit new fooderies in the afternoon just before the dinner folks arrive. The cozy restaurant was exceptionally clean and airy. Our charming server was most friendly and courteous as we ordered the cod fish and chips and of course, Guinness to compliment the meal. Our meals were served nice and hot. The fish was very tasty with a mild flavorful batter-coating and the chips were substantially light, fluffy, and mealy, with a soft, cooked potato texture and not greasy. (Unlike the standard crispy, standard-fare French fries from a fast food place.) We chose the sticky toffee pudding as dessert and what a treat! We look forward to our next visit to sample the other British-style offerings. The Thai selections on the menu are also very tempting.

Cool little spot. Clearly high quality. Got the cod and it flaked apart in nice meaty chunks like you'd expect.

I wish there were more stars to select. I’ve lived in the USA 30+ years and this is the closest I’ve had to “proper” fish n chips. I opted for traditional, good olde “cod”, they do offer haddock too, and GF option.
The chips were chunky, the cod flaky, and the batter, what can I say, perfect! They even serve it with a curry sauce for dipping, not that I’m a fan, but very British. You need to try it, home from home! I’ll be back, again and again for sure.

Lives up to the hype! Really good fish and chips, of which I’ve had many bad ones, and yummy pad thai too. It’s not fast food, you do have a wait a little bit. Food comes out piping hot. The portions aren’t so enormous that you’ll certainly have leftovers, but plenty to make one adult feel very full. Beatles plays what appears to be 24/7, which I wonder how the staff isn’t going a bit crazy over. Prices aren’t cheap but also not overtly expensive, you’ll pay nearly $20 per entre. Worth it for a special treat but it would be difficult to be a regular spot. The desert was delicious and moist! Would give 4.5 stars if I could, mostly due to price of what are delicious but common street food dishes.
Solid. I ordered the haddock and chips to go for lunch and it was cooked to perfection. Nice and crispy breading as it should be with fish and chips. I'll be back for the full dine-in experience soon.

Proper British fare. Scotch Egg was definitely the highlight. Better than anything I've had back in the UK. Fish and chips were very decent - only criticism would be the portions of chips were on the smaller side but they were well cooked and delicious. Will definitely eat here again and would recommend to anyone who thinks that British food is typically bland and boring - this would prove that is not the case!

Two orders of fish and chips and a Thai tea for takeout. All cooked perfectly, served with all of the sauces we could want: malt vinegar, tartar sauce, gravy, ketchup. Walked in to pick up the order and was greeted warmly. Honestly I was surprised by how empty the place was. The owners seemed great and the food was awesome! Get in there.

Don’t sleep on this place. The fish and chips are exceptional; both the regular and the gluten-free option are outstanding. What makes this spot stand out is its focus: instead of trying to do a long list of dishes just okay, they’ve chosen to do a short list of authentic British favorites really, really well. The result is some of the best fish and chips you’ll find anywhere in the Richmond area (and beyond). Highly recommend checking it out.

The food and service were great! Where else can you go in Richmond that has delicious, authentic British and Thai food on the same menu? As many other people mentioned, everyone there is so kind and welcoming. I will definitely be back to watch Premier League matches this season!
