Great historic hotel. Very few amenities (no pool, gym, jacuzzi). Rooms were beautiful. Restaurant food and bar were amazing. However, our booking said that breakfast was included. They didn't even offer breakfast. As in, no breakfast on sight. Just coffee. I would have stayed next door had I known this. Many others we met expressed the same issue.Walkability: In the heart of many stores and restaurants downtown.

Booked the room through the hotels website and when we arrived we were given a different room. Approached the front desk about it and we were told a few times that we were wrong. Problem is our receipt matched what the websites room description was. It was eventually taken care of and we were given the correct room.It is understandable that the hotel is going through renovations, at least that's what their sign on the front desk states, but getting to our room made me realize it's not worth the $400 for one night. My air vent has dust caked in it.A lack of basic maintenance, cleanliness, and amenities boggles my mind. There is no refrigerator and microwave. I would say that it's more a three star hotel with room for improvement into a 4 star category. Hopefully the renovations move a bit quicker cause from what I have seen, it's not great.

Found The Berkeley because our flight was cancelled and so fortunate that we did. It is a lovely hotel with generous sized rooms and high ceilings and beautiful decor. The staff is amazingly friendly w accommodating. The valets were sooo kind and attentive - and they kept our belongings safe as we toured another campus and waited for out late replacement flight. Wonderful experience!!

A friendly, cozy experience with a vintage feel, located next to a lot of what I needed to get done in Richmond. The rooms, while dated, with visible repairs, were perfectly serviceable and clean, with an abundance of pillows and lamps and a good writing desk. The upcoming renovation will fix a lot of that - but I fear it'll also strip some of the cozy charm out too.The walls are thiiiin, so if you're a light sleeper, bring earplugs. The staff was friendly and efficient, and had good food recommendations. The restaurant is open now, though we didn't get to try it.Don't hesitate to book.Rooms: Cozy and well worn, but clean and serviceableSafety: Never felt even a little peril, even after midnight.Walkability: Extremely walkable to local stuff.

I had a lovely brief stay here! Special shoutout to Starlet (if I read that nametag correctly?) at the front desk--super helpful and friendly! Cozy, clean, and located on such a lovely little street with good resturants and shops.

This hotel is not what it's advertised... you couldn't pay me to stay there again it's very dirty n the pillows have to be 10yrs old with stains all over!

I'm really enjoying this hotel. Decided to book another night. The hot water for the bathttub is consistently piping hot. Hard to find that in hotels these days. And hard to find a bathtub. Had a room with a balcony. Big and spacious with a beautiful view. Convenient neighborhood to walk to restaurants and make friends while enjoying the nightlife. Everything is right outside your door. Friendly staff and permits pets. Hope to stay again down the road.

Big rooms but very dated. The valet situation is challenging in terms of timeliness and accessibility. No restaurant open during the stay.

TC, the valet attendant, provided such a warm welcome to the hotel. The area is nice and the common areas are so cozy.

Room was very dated. Mattress was very old feeling and uncomfortable, could feel the springs. Furniture in room very dated. Barely any blanket on the beds, just multiple layers of sheets basically. Walls were stained very badly in room and bathroom. Toilet ran the entire time. Used to really like this place when I visited Richmond but has gone downhill quickly. Service was great and location is great.
