Made my reservation a long time before for inside seating, but ended up being a beautiful evening and the host was very accommodating to help me find and outside table. I have been coming here since I moved to Richmond in 1995 and it remains my favorite place. Food and service are always top notch

The food and service were good. The chicken alfredo, seafood stuffed portobello mushrooms, voodoo chicken, gumbo, redfish orleans, shrimp and grits, fried shrimp and hush puppies were Yummy 😋 Thank you!!!

Christian, my server, was AMAZING! He was polite, attentive and knowledgeable. The crab cake was terrible. Slightly charred with too much filler.

Very great service, unfortunately all food was very overcooked- we got the Lobster and Crab + Ribs and the lobster was so tough. Staff was very nice though.

We visited twice during our stay and had an overall good experience both times. Our server during the evening visit was not great. He was generally rude and awkward to interact with - name begins with A. However, the food was great! This led us to come back for brunch the next morning. I'm glad we did because we had a great server that time and great food, again. I would recommend this place 10/10 despite the visit with bad service as the rest of the staff seemed very kind.

We had a nice lunch at Hard Shell! Started with the calamari & Brussels sprouts as stated appetizers & I had the salmon over the salad! Always a great experience!
The food was solid & what I’d expect from this restaurant. My bar is pretty low for service & the Hard Shell did not come close to this standard. Bar staff was great. Our server was absent, seemed to have forgotten to take our order, no offers for another round, & had to be asked for the check several times.

Surprisingly, actually, really could just wish that the waiter would have asked. Would I like tap or bottle before pouring tap. Calamari was a little salty. Drink was okay. Lobster roll was amazing . Fries were decent .

Ordered KING CRAB LEGS, over cooked, claws rubbery, next to impossible to crack the things open. Waiter was not very good!
