We had a great leisurely lunch. The food was very good and the service, friendly and efficient. We will certainly go back for dinner.

My husband and I ate at The Hard Shell and selected from the Richmond Restaurant Week menu. There was a lot of variety on the menu. We each chose different items from each of the three categories and split each item. Everything was delicious. The only negative comments are that the she crab soup and rockfish portions were quite small, but we realize that this may be because these were RRW items. Service was prompt and the server was friendly and cheerful. We opted to eat outside, where the noise level was lower and the small heaters in the umbrellas made it comfortable.

Last night my wife and I had the fried oyster and mussel appetizers, lobster tail and filet and lobster tail and crab for entrees. We finished with cheese cake and chocolate mousse. Everything was exceptional. I highly recommend the downtown Hardshell.

Another fantastic dining experience at the Hard Shell. Our bartender Aubrey was extremely personable, prompt and a joy to interact with. Our server Ali was well versed on the menu, courteous, and provided a most enjoyable dining experience. Once again, the Hard Shell has proven that customer service and delicious food are a guarantee. Also, the restaurant week menu was plentiful and an amazing value!

I did not have a bad bite here. From the crab dip appetizer to the creme brulee dessert, everything was fantastic. The hard shell pasta and loved it. I had the crab cake and lobster tail and both were excellent. My son's girlfriend had a lobster roll and said that it was amazing. All three of us were extremely happy with our food. The service was impeccable and the atmosphere of the restaurant was wonderful

Made my reservation a long time before for inside seating, but ended up being a beautiful evening and the host was very accommodating to help me find and outside table. I have been coming here since I moved to Richmond in 1995 and it remains my favorite place. Food and service are always top notch

The food and service were good. The chicken alfredo, seafood stuffed portobello mushrooms, voodoo chicken, gumbo, redfish orleans, shrimp and grits, fried shrimp and hush puppies were Yummy 😋 Thank you!!!

Very great service, unfortunately all food was very overcooked- we got the Lobster and Crab + Ribs and the lobster was so tough. Staff was very nice though.

We visited twice during our stay and had an overall good experience both times. Our server during the evening visit was not great. He was generally rude and awkward to interact with - name begins with A. However, the food was great! This led us to come back for brunch the next morning. I'm glad we did because we had a great server that time and great food, again. I would recommend this place 10/10 despite the visit with bad service as the rest of the staff seemed very kind.
