The food is wonderful. The staff is wonderful, especially the bartenders. I tip $20 everytime just for the drinks. Its small but it had that neighborhood diner vibe. I ❤️ it.

Stopped by The Sidewalk Cafe for a bite after visiting the Capitol. We had the gyro, the roasted pork sandwich, and the portobello sandwich. They were all absolutely delish. The portions were huge- we went home with half a sandwich and fries as leftovers. The atmosphere is your favorite hometown bar. Just over all a great experience.

Tonight I visited Sidewalk Cafe and had an extremely disappointing experience. Over the last year I have frequented this establishment and NEVER had such a poor experience. Due to the holiday, I called beforehand to see what time the kitchen was closing. The woman that answered the phone told me the kitchen would close at 1AM. I arrived at 12:05AM and was informed the kitchen was already closed. When I addressed the time discrepancy with the waitress she said “Oh, you are the person that just called? I will let you order but we are serving a limited menu.” Her tone was very condescending and rude. Then, she proceeded to rush me and my fiancé to order. Once our food came out the French fries were ice cold. The experience went down hill from there. I watched the server handle tomatoes on the sandwich station without any gloves and she did not wash her hands prior to touching the tomatoes. It saddens me that a place where I have spent a lot of time and money throughout the year just lost me as a customer. Furthermore when I addressed these issues to my server her response was “You should be grateful that we allowed you to come in and order. It’s a holiday”. Needless to say I will not be eating here ever again. I will go where I am appreciated and treated well.
