The food was really good and the service was exceptional. Price was comparable to other restaurants.

Crabcake was well prepared, mainly lump crab meat, little filler. Cole slaw was much better than average. Peanut soup is not my favorite but was willing to give it a try. Too salty. Shrimp and grits were good along with the andouille sausage. Have been to the Jefferson Hotel before but wanted to go this year to see the Christmas decorations. Recommend it. The Gingerbread House scene was great including the scent of the spices.

We went after the business of the Christmas season (1/2/26) and it was perfect! We were able to enjoy dinner with all the holiday decorations but less of the crowd. Although the menu is limited, it is wonderful. Our table had the salmon piccata, hanger steak and shrimp and grits as well as the crab cake sandwich. All were delicious! The holiday cocktails were also yummy and our waiter was very attentive. All in all - the experience was exactly what Richmonders have come to expect at The Jefferson.

Beautiful location, attentive kind staff. Had one of the holiday cocktails and it was excellent (I think it was The Big Saint Nick) varied curated menu, I had the salmon and mom chose the mushroom French dip - highly recommend both. The star of the show was the creme Brule and the smoothest coffee I've ever had.

Service was very slow even thought there were a lot of empty tables. The server messed up on one of the orders at our table for a chicken salad croissant and it took quite a while for the order to come out while the rest of us were eating. A smaller thing was that 2 of us doing fnt get the dressing ordered for the salad . I've been to TJs before and it is usually very good so it was disappointing.

The service was mediocre at best, very polite but inefficient. Our party was told we could not be seated even one minute earlier than our reservation even though our table appeared to have been available. Had to request for a refill on a soft drink, the glass disappeared for a long time. All meals were brought out at the same time, although server didn't know who ordered what. The food was good, I was given a nice container to take home remainder of my meal and a bag much too small for that container. Instructions here for where to park do not state how unclear the instructions are for guests not staying at the hotel to access the lots, had to use a credit card to access supposedly free parking. We mainly went for the hotel's holiday decorations, which as usual were fabulous.

The Hotel is absolutely beautifully decorated for Christmas. TJ's was very underwhelming. Looked more like a cafeteria with linen tablecloths and VERY bland. The fried oysters were very flavorful and salad was tasty. The fried green tomatoes and the carrot ginger soup I'd give 1 star at best.

What an amazing experience! We had a lovely waitress, the cocktails were spectacular, food was amazing, and the Jefferson Hotel is magical!

We had noon reservations made in October confirmed for 6. At 1145 Open Table texted us a change in our reservation to 5. We checked in well before noon. Not only was our table not ready when we returned at 1210 they couldn't find a table and bu put us at a 10 top in a back corner not even set. Our service was slow. Our waiter was great so it wasn't his fault. We made it to the ballet but the total experience was a disappointment

We had an 8:15 reservation and asked if we could be seated when we arrived at 8:05 but the hostess said no, although there were many empty tables. Once we were seated at 8:15 and the order was taken, the server came to our table to say the bar was closing and did we want another drink, altho we had just received our first. When the food arrived, she said the kitchen was closing and did we want dessert although we had not begun our entrees. If the kitchen and bar close at 9:00, there should not be 8:15 seating—especially in a large hotel at holiday time. We felt very rushed.

Always love the beautiful Christmas decorations at The Jefferson Hotel and have been coming here for years to view the decor and enjoy holiday lunch with friends. Months ago, made a reservation for lunch at TJs. Our group was seated near the coat closet and the area was very cold. (It felt like the air conditioning was on.) When we asked to be seated elsewhere, the response was the empty tables were reserved. (No one was seated at the empty tables during the two hours we were there.) Also, the food was not up to the usual Jefferson standards. Several people in our group ordered oysters. The fried oysters were served warm, not hot, and the breading overpowered the oysters. The oyster sandwich consisted of 5 or 6 oysters served on a large sub roll. The hotel has always had delicious french fries but this year no french fries; curly fries only. (Not as tasty as the curly fries at Arby's.) Our server was excellent - very pleasant, polite, and efficient. Overall, the best part of our lunch was the Christmas decorations.

Went for lunch over the Thanksgiving weekend. Unfortunately their famous Christmas decorations were not yet complete but the place looked lovely anyway.
My friend and I ate at TJs for lunch. Though the main restaurant was full, at TJ’s we had our choice of rooms - the charming and warm bar room or the more utilitarian cafeteria-like room, and of seats - bar or table. We chose a table in the bar and enjoyed that atmosphere.
The food was overall disappointing. My friend tried the peanut soup out of curiosity and said the only flavor was peanut. We expected something more elevated than liquid peanut butter. I had the chicken salad croissant and fruit. The sandwich was good, but the fruit was the very unimaginative combo of melons and grapes. The melon did not seem fresh.
The staff was friendly and competent.
Next time I’ll plan ahead and get a reservation in the main restaurant.

Wife and I had lunch. She had peanut soup, not as warm as she’d like. Then chicken salad on a croissant with a side of fruit. She described it as average. Three star. I had the burger which The Jefferson always does well. Cornbread to start was very heavy. Overall, four star average for food. We’d go back next time we’re staying at The Jefferson Hotel.
