I don’t know what has happen to their BBQ but our lunch today was not good. The beef brisket was dry and tough and the Carolina pulled pork???? Again dry and really not even what I would call BBQ. Service was poor and not very friendly. $30.00+ for two lunches never again.

I thought my mom and I were going to Virginia barbecue didn’t know they closed and this place took over. Terrible service terrible food and ungodly expensive. Not to mention the bbq wasnt even hot. It’s a shame Virginia barbecue is not there any longer.

sooo, getting better after changing hands, but still not as good as with the old owners.... 2 things...prices could still come down. $20 for a takeout platter is a bit steep. Only other neg is one of my cornbread muffins was super old..hard as a brick.

Ordered from Uber Eats again. The last several times I've ordered the Collards and Green Beans had absolutely no seasoning at all. Today they had seasoning in the collards and the green beans were black from the amount of pepper (no other seasoning) in them. They have never once actually sent my drink with the Uber eats orders (today was no different) and they dont put the requested sauce on the sandwich or in the bag on the side.

The food here was amazing until about the last 6-7 months and its just gone down hill drastically since. Would not recommend ordering unless your gonna pick it up, only get the pulled pork (its gmreally good) and even them verify they got the order right before you leave.

I never give reviews but I had to after visiting them today. I have lived in Lakeside for 20 years and Lakeside BBQ has always been delicious. However, it is apparently under new ownership and it is not the same at all. I was severely disappointed in the Pork BBQ sandwich which I always get. The pork was hardly cooked and it was served cold, not piping hot with blackened pieces like the previous owners served it. Same with the hush puppies. Barely cooked and served cold. I asked for Cole Slaw on the side and it just a thimble full that didn’t cover the sandwich. The vinegar sauce was plain vinegar and did not have the savory spices as what was served in years past. The drink machine was broken. Such a shame the food is inedible now and clearly after receiving quite a few bad reviews, the new owner is not taking the feedback to heart. The gentleman who took my order was so dour, no smile, barely spoke, it seemed like a big effort to take it. I wish you luck sir, in keeping what once was a great restaurant in Lakeside and a favorite place to eat going. Lakeside BBQ has taken a big slide downhill in food quality and service. To post this I had to rate it so I give it 1 star, but actually I have to rate it O stars.

Overpriced now. It wasn't always the greatest barbecue, but at least it was priced that way. The French fries are good.

BBQ is 🗑️ they will only give you one sauce cup no matter if you get fries or barbecue they want to charge you for each additional cup for you to put your own sauce into will never come back don't go. Atmosphere building is still under construction while open

Everytime I have been in lakeside over the past 5 years, I have tried to eat at lakeside bbq. It has clearly changed hands. The food is terrible. The service was less than mediocre. Hush puppies were burnt bbq was trash. And I nearly broke a tooth on their hard was chocolate chip cookies. The sweet and sassy sauce has clearly been changed from what it was to sweet baby rays. The guest area was filthy, trash everywhere. All around bad experience. I will not be returning.

What was once a great BBQ spot has gone massively downhill. Portions have decreased and prices have gone up. The Texas barbecue is now dry strips of brisket. They have subs on offer now, and we tried the tuna and the corned beef. I've never had a 9 dollar sub with literally one slice of meat on it until today. The tuna sub was just as scant, barely any tuna at all. No longer worth it, unfortunately!

What happened? New ownership? Food tasted horrible...so disappointed that one of our favorite places has again changed hands the the food has really declined. Never again...so sad...loved this place for years but it just gets worse and worse. NOPE!

Use to love this place. Just stopped in for the first time in a while. Inside has b3en reworked not the same atmosphere. Menu looks the same but coleslaw different baked beans different fries different bread different barbecue is soggy and doesn't have the same flavor. All in all food is 1/3 of what it use to be. Don't recommend not worth the price.

The food is ok but it's not the previously loved lakeside bbq. The texture of the bbq seems a bit different. It used to be on the dryer side and now it almost had a thick fatty wetness to it which is common in bbq but wasn't like that before. It could just be a preference thing. Once i find something i love its hard to beat. The slaw is not the same. It used to be finely chopped and once again a texture thing. The flavor is ok but its not something id be excited about. The mac was pretty decent and picky toddler approved but sadly the corn muffins are inedible offering no sweetness and really dry. They used to be a highlight of the meal. The va hot sauce is no more. He told me the company didn't sell it anymore but ive had conversations with the old owner to know it was made in house. Thankfully I bought a bottle of it last time I was there. The staff was super friendly and very timely. Hopefully they work out some of the kinks in taking over a previously loved business. I'll definitely give it another try. It wasn't bad, I'm just picky and those are some of the things that were different to me.

If you own a BBQ place, I would expect you to know what sauces I want in my to go bag. Or the place would smell like smoke?
Why is the soda machine not working anymore?
Green beans out of a can with no seasoning at all. Potato too sauced and over cooked potatoes made it mush. Fries also unseasoned. And my BBQ sandwich tasted like my middle school cafeterias.
Sad to see VA BBQ gone and like most things, a redo was never needed . The vibe is not the same at all.
And no amount of emojis or apologies will make my stomach happy after eating some of that.
