Very disappointing... the baked beans were the only good part of my meal. I ordered takeout and they forgot two of my sides and gave me the wrong sandwich (which was also cold). Noone was at the register and obviously noone performed QA on my meal before stapling the bag shut. The cornbread muffins are tiny and not worth paying for. Luckily lakeside has many other great restaraunts because this is not one I would buy from again. If you are in the area looking for quick, affordable yummy eats I recommend Killa Dillas or Lakeside deli instead.

Stopped in on a whim after an after school activity for my son and seeing that they had a family meal pack. I was thrilled with the meal - for $28 we got a pint of Va Bbq, a pint of beans and slaw, 4 buns and 4 corn muffins - I added on a side of hush puppies, 1/2 pint of Mac and cheese and a drink. With a tip it was $45 - with a TON of food. The bbq was great and different from a lot of other places in the area. It was already sauced and kind of reminded me of bbq I would get as a kid and my son loved it. What I really liked is that the meat was in no way dried out. The Mac and cheese was really good it even had a cheese pull when spooning it out of the container. Baked beans were outstanding and had pork in them and a great brown sugar flavor! They had an extra NC Bbq sandwich they added since it was the end of the night and OMG - that sandwich was HUGE and the vinegar sauce was spot on. The staff was extremely friendly and fast. We will be including Lakeside BBQ on our regular take out and using them for family events in the future!

I've had my fair share of North Carolina BBQ, and let me tell you, what we had today was more akin to a vinegar baptism than a proper BBQ. The lone morsel of meat I managed to rescue from the acidic deluge lacked any semblance of flavor—it was as if the spice rack had taken a personal day. Even the sweet and sassy BBQ sauce, which wasn't half bad, stood no chance against the tyrannical reign of vinegar drenching every bite.On the side, the baked beans seemed like they'd leaped straight from a can, jazzed up with a lonely sprinkle of pepper and a half-hearted whisper of garlic bits. If these were homemade, it was a stealth operation meant to mimic mass production. The greens? Same canned charisma, zero zest. I dare not comment on the coleslaw; it was merely a vinegar sponge in disguise on my sandwich.However, not all was lost. The hushpuppies were a crisp beacon of hope, and both of us found solace in their golden embrace. The girlfriend gave two thumbs up to the mac and cheese, so there's that small victory. While the atmosphere and staff were top-notch, it's a shame the food didn't share the same accolade. For those craving true BBQ in Richmond, there are certainly richer pastures—unless, of course, you prefer your meat served with a side of pickling agent.

Lakeside BBQ is our go to place when we want barbecue at home for dinner. Everybody is happy with a sandwich, cole slaw, Mac and Cheese and hushpuppies (Collards also for mom). We rarely have left overs. Glad you are in the neighborhood!

Not going Back. $11 for less than 9 oz of beef BBQ to go, employee wearing their hoodie on their head, looked disturbed as I looked for pints on their menu that have now disappeared. No customer greeting, no thank you and they could not even secure the top to the 1/2-pint container.

I'm from NC, and tried the NC style BBQ sandwich.. It's not even close!!! It was cold, chewy, barely seasoned, and tasted old!!! Bun was hard. Mac and cheese was disgusting!!!! Loaded with pepper, and fake cheese. Even the lemonade was watered down!!! At least the French fries were ok!!!! SMH??????

Food was good. Dining room was a wreck. Was there at 1:45 and it looked like every table had just left. Trash was gone, but crumbs, sauce, etc. on every table. Most tables had no napkins. Wiped down my table. The Cole slaw spilled over in my bag and made a huge mess. When I left, all the tables were still dirty as the cashier and another employee rested in a booth. Really??

Ordered 1/2 rack ribs and got home to find out that the ribs are boiled, have no grilled or smoked taste. I was very disappointed with the boiled water based ribs.
Love the staff, and the barbecue is smokey and delicious.

Eat it often. Sandwich came back soggy with I falling apart. Took it back and a employee tossed a new bun on my tray. lol, won’t come back. Not to mention the terrible customer service.

Service was great ? However the food was not to my liking. I ordered 2 #4 (Pulled chicken bbq w/ 2sides and drink) Bread was dark and crumbly, Chicken was cold and it was rotisserie style, sauces were hot no sweet or smoky flavor, Mac and cheese was definitely Stouffer’s with added pepper, collard greens were canned and no added ingredients. This was my first time trying and as you can see I wasn’t pleased with my food.

Food was cold that barbecue chicken, but it was really barbecue, rotisserie chicken Stouffer‘s, macaroni and cheese and canned greens probably will never go back not probably never going back. Food was awful and I don’t think they sell barbecue just the sauce.
