Tucked into a charming, walkable pocket near downtown Richmond, Whisk is a gem worth discovering—especially if you’re staying nearby. I stopped in for a croissant bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich paired with a drip coffee, and wow… the coffee was amazing. Smooth, bold, and exactly what I needed to start the day.

The sandwich hit all the right notes—flaky croissant, savory bacon, and a perfectly cooked egg. Cozy vibes, friendly staff, and a location that makes it easy to swing by whether you’re exploring or just waking up. I’ll definitely be back.

Not a big fan of the tea but The Richmonder sandwich and cookies made up for it.

I was craving something buttery after my work out and saw this place was right by me. I ordered this huge bacon egg and cheese on this buttery decadent croissant. It was heavenly and the customer service was nice.

Found this gem and so glad I did (it was a short and cute walk from VCU/CHOR) - 20 minutes.

That croissant was the best I’ve had in YEARS.

Service was fast and friendly

The outdoor patio outback was quaint and cute! Just wish there was a trashcan to discard my trash

I will definitely be back to visit next time. I’m in Richmond.

I love that all of the syrups were Housemade

We stopped for a quick coffee and pastries. The iced latte was yummy and not too sweet. The plain coffee was also super flavorful.

The croissants looked amazing, however we were hungrier and wanted a good sandwich. The bakery items were sparse and not very appealing. The BLT with Duke’s Mayo was a good option- crispy bacon, fresh lettuce, okay tomato and Dukes. The honey wheat had a hard time keeping it together. Stale? Our other sandwich- the Richmonder, was a huge disappointment mainly because of what they’re called aïoli spread, thickly on both side sides of the bread. It was flavorless and loosened the bread so much that the sandwich fell apart. It smelled and tasted old, and had more of the consistency of cold, stale bacon grease. The sandwich would have been 100% better if you substituted Dukes mayonnaise. Or were able to add salt and pepper, which they claimed not to have. I peeled off the bread and anything touching the aïoli to enjoy the turkey and cheese. Not a good sandwich. I do know what aïoli is and what it is supposed to taste like. This one made me wonder if it was old or rancid or bottom of the barrel? Yucky. The place was busy, they had already run out of breakfast sandwiches by 10:30 AM. It was a holiday Monday, so not many other places were open which probably explained the huge crowd. The service was pretty good with the steady crowd, but I’m not sure why they don’t take names or give you a number for your order? Also, I saw a baby carriage, not be able to fit through the front door, but that’s Richmond for you.

Open on a Labor Day Monday a big plus. Got there too late for the breakfast sandwich I was craving, but the pain au chocolat was a delicious and flaky substitute.

Best croissants ever!!! Amazingly flakey and buttery! Staff is very nice 😊 I also get their matcha with brown sugar oat syrup (I think that’s what it’s called). I’d say their matcha is definitely one of the better ones of all the cafes I’ve tried so far in the Shockoe area!
