As always, our night at Alexander's was wonderful! The food is always divine, and the service is simply the best. So many reasons to keep coming back to our favorite restaurant!
One of the joys of moving to Roanoke eleven years ago has been the discovery of so many wonderful restaurants. We now have a new favorite: Alexander's. The dining room is arranged so that you can be sitting next to a table full of diners and you can feel almost alone in the room. We were sitting across from a huge painting that occupied our conversation, even as a poster of my favorite painting could be seen across the room. And the FOOD. My husband had a delectable rabbit stew with roasted vegetables and a perfect risotto. I enjoyed the lamb ragu with polenta. I admit to wiping my plate with pieces of baguette, the ragu was so delicious! Dessert was a heavenly piece of coconut cake, decorated with pieces of macadamia nuts and a glorious piece of passion fruit brittle. We like to died! I also want to give a shout out to the wonderful service! There was a tiny mistake with my order and both waiters were i think particularly attentive and apologetic about it, filling water glasses, making sure we were happy. It was delightful! Alexander's is now our favorite restaurant in Roanoke.
Alexander's is wonderful. Great service. Quiet. Portion size is smaller and salad was nothing to remember.
We had not been to Alexanders for a while because we usually make last minute decisions. On a cold, wintry night, the ambiance, temperature and food were warm and welcoming. Everything was excellent. Learned about a new vineyard, Digwood and Thistle whose development we'll follow.
Excellent food and service. Desserts made in house. It is so nice to be in a place with that feels traditional in all the right ways.
Everything about Alexander's was great! We will definitely be back next time we are in the area!
Alexander's is in downtown Roanoke and was a 6 minute walk over the railroad bridge from the Hotel Roanoke. Our dinner at the Alexander was amazing! The staff was welcoming and warm and we were quickly shown to our table. I would recommend making a reservation, as it is a small place and it was full the night we went. The service was excellent and the food was amazing. I had a braised rabbit - I love rabbit and so rarely see it on a menu - and my husband had the pork chop, which we decided tasted like the pork of old, when it wasn't the other white meat. So juicy and hearty. The coffee was presented with flair and we had a wonderful time. The only downside was the price - we had two drinks each, coffee after dinner, split a dessert, and had an entree apiece and our bill with tip was over $200!
Our food was delicious and as always the service was excellent in a non rushed atmosphere. Alexander's is one of Roanoke's best restaurants
What a gift to Roanoke to have this 35 yo restaurant still thriving! Being retired lets us go out on a week night! We go early for quiet, great service and the benefits of a non busy kitchen. A must visit for locals and visitors!
Top notch dining and service ! The experience was special for our anniversary! We will be back !

Alexander's it's my favorite restaurant in Roanoke, It's the best place, food and the server are truly kind
Consistently one of the best restaurants in the region. We have eaten here four times on our way south. Service is excellent food is farm table and appropriate for the season. It's nice to see a restaurant that can maintain high standards in this day and age.
Delicious food and impeccable service, as usual! Thank you for being our favorite restaurant!
First time eating there and it was a delightful experience. The vibe, the food, and the service were all wonderful. I had the New Orleans shrimp etouffee and it came out perfect. If I'm in Roanoke and want to have a memorable celebration meal, this is the place.
