I was one of a weekday evening of a party of three all of whom love to try new food. Starting with the formaggi (cheese platter) to cannoli and semifreddo dessert, we were not disappointed. Each of us ordered a main dish. The vegetarian chose homemade pasta with a creamy cheese sauce; the meat eater, pork Milanese; and I, the roasted whole Branzino. I elelcted to trythis fish for comparison with similar dishes in a favorite Oriental restaurant. Fortunato’s Branzino preparation won hands down for me. The flesh was perfectly prepared - moist, tender, and almost falling off the bones. The side complimented the fish perfectly. I finished my cannoli accompanied by an espresso and a smile on my face.”
“We always have a Great Experience at Bernard's. Matt is Always so genuine he is an Amazing Server. We got our regular Butterscotch Banana pudding that is OMG delicious. We also got our regular order of BBQ wings they are so good also. We added Chicken and Dumplings this time and see we will definitely get it again, it is full of ingredients. (I was a server for many years so I know the hard work it takes to be one of the best and Olivia was the best) I hope when my mom and I left tonight we made Olivia's night. “Blue Cow is our go-to ice cream destination of choice with fun and unique flavors you won't find anywhere else! The atmosphere is cute and charming, but it can get quite busy and you might have a hard time finding a seat, but as long as the weather is nice there are plenty of spaces to sit down along the greenway! The only other thing to consider is the severe lack of parking. There are a few spots next to the building, but they are usually always full, and the business across the street does not take kindly to people parking in their lot.Parking: The parking is very limited and the lot across the street is not keen on letting people park there. Recommendation is to park and walk a little ways if you are able!”

OF COURSE several of us had "The Cube" a Signature Lucky Classic cocktail that uses a select bourbon shot poured over a cider & local herb-infused ice cube; that evolves over time as the cube melts into the bourbon. Pro-tip: Get a "re-pour" of bourbon when your drink gets shallow.As always the wine selection is UNPARALLELED. I am never disappointed and often surprised by the mainstays and new wines from all over the world, INCLUDING high-quality Virginia Wines on occasion.We needed a special late-evening snack, so we ordered several of the Roasted Marrow Bone appetizers. They were HUGE and so rich & creamy!!!!!! The salad included is always refreshing and a perfect green-note contrast to the literally melt-in-your-mouth roasted beef marrow, as well as the perfect accoutrement of thin crusty bread slices. But the secret highlight of this dish is the "Marrow Luge" or "Marrow Shot" after the delicate marrow is all consumed and a hollowed out beef bone remains; a bonding ritual where a trusted friend pours a full shot of your chosen bourbon down the bone hollow as you catch it in your mouth at the base. It's not extremely easy to pour the bourbon at the right rate and it's not always easy to drink it smoothly at the end. However, the flavor of aerated bourbon sliding down and absorbing the marrow juice on the way to your palate is SUBLIME and the experience of sharing it with a friend is a "Life Tile" for both of you.Lucky (GOD BLESS Hunter, JP & Co.) has led the way for Roanoke's Restaurant & Cocktail Revolution for a very long time, and they remain the lead dog. “This was my first visit to the Pine Room and 1882 Lobby Bar although I was on a return visit to Roanoke after growing up there. The bar is elegant yet simple and unpretentious with a beautiful rounded bar, a gorgeous night sky painted ceiling, and provided me with one of the best cocktails I have tasted anywhere- their version of a rye old fashioned made with Basil Hayden dark rye. Delicious! The Pine Room is beautifully appointed, again elegant but informal. Penny, our food server was amazing! Gracious, friendly, attending to every need including needs we hadn't even thought of! For an appetizer, we all shared the crispy cauliflower. Amazing! Penny helped provide us the recipe, so we're ready to try making this at home (although I'm sure it won't be nearly as good.) Our group's entrees included the pork shank with smoked collards and sweet potatoes (a big hit!), shrimp and scallop risotto- delicious!, and a ribeye grilled to perfection. Desserts included a free form tart made with apples, blueberries, and pears, and topped with honey vanilla ice cream, and a flight of small cheesecakes. We were a group of old friends (and spouses) gathering and renewing our ties after too many years apart. In many settings, the food would have taken a distant second to the stories and reminiscences, but here in Hotel Roanoke's Pine Room and 1882 Lobby Bar, the food, drink, and spectacular service were a perfect match for a memorable evening!”

“Move over Starbucks, I have a new favorite coffee spot. My fiancé and I had a pleasure meeting the owner at Cello coffee house & cafe Saturday evening. Not only was he friendly, welcoming and just a genuinely great man, he served up the best coffee! We tasted a few of his homemade ice cream flavors and they were the better than anything you could get from any container. We even brought home baklava and thoroughly enjoyed it as well. We love supporting these small businesses that pack a punch in our community with such amazing products. If you are ever downtown, make sure to give them a visit! You will NOT be disappointed.”

“The food was delicious! Ordered 2 pho, 4 spring roll, pork bahn mi, and dumplings. All of my order was fresh, hot, and delicious! Not to mention my spring rolls were rolled perfect! The rice paper wasn’t hard in any spots, pork flavorful, great portion inside. The fish sauce was perfectly balanced. I love that it had some spice to it. I ordered from DoorDash and the reason I say the service because I called just to tell them about my order in general. And the person on the phone was very kind. The person did not rush me off the phone or anything of that nature and I appreciate that in general because I know they probably were busy. So I recommend this place five stars! The bar is elegant yet simple and unpretentious with a beautiful rounded bar, a gorgeous night sky painted ceiling, and provided me with one of the best cocktails I have tasted anywhere- their version of a rye old fashioned made with Basil Hayden dark rye. Delicious! The Pine Room is beautifully appointed, again elegant but informal. Penny, our food server was amazing! Gracious, friendly, attending to every need including needs we hadn't even thought of! For an appetizer, we all shared the crispy cauliflower. Amazing! Penny helped provide us the recipe, so we're ready to try making this at home (although I'm sure it won't be nearly as good.) Our group's entrees included the pork shank with smoked collards and sweet potatoes (a big hit!), shrimp and scallop risotto- delicious!, and a ribeye grilled to perfection. Desserts included a free form tart made with apples, blueberries, and pears, and topped with honey vanilla ice cream, and a flight of small cheesecakes. We were a group of old friends (and spouses) gathering and renewing our ties after too many years apart. In many settings, the food would have taken a distant second to the stories and reminiscences, but here in Hotel Roanoke's Pine Room and 1882 Lobby Bar, the food, drink, and spectacular service were a perfect match for a memorable evening!”

“I am not normally a fan of buffet style restaurants, but I was with a tour group, so Golden Corral was our chosen location for dinner while in Roanoke. The restaurant was clean, the food was plentiful and the staff friendly. BUT- one person really stood out and that was Venus, the Hospitality Manager! Venus greeted us at the door welcoming us with a sign that she made herself. She checked on us multiple times during our meal and even sent us on our way with a box of fresh chocolate chip cookies. ❤️ If you are ever in the area and need a place for a large group to eat, I would definitely recommend Golden Corral Town Square Blvd in Roanoke, VA and be sure to ask for Venus!”
“What started off not so great had more than a great ending. I had ordered catering pick up for my son’s birthday party. My husband went to pick up the order at the pick up time but the food was not ready. He was provided several large bags and told all food was included. When he arrived home with the food I realized half the order was missing and there were no sauces or dressings. I called to ask if they could please deliver the order as we had 20 people in the house and were out of food at this point. Chic fil A not only delivered the remaining order, but they also threw in an entire extra nugget rams dessert tray and refunded my entire order. Excellent customer service that I did not anticipate. “It's in a multi business strip mall. This place is on the right side on the right corner near the hair salon. It's the plaza immediately after Cuban island. Parking is pretty full so I recommend coming on an off time. Friendly staff but they weren't very helpful with explaining things. Apparently you take a form and fill it out and take it to the register to order. For that reason, I don't think it's exactly table side service. And then you go back after eating to pay... would make more sense to pay when you order and pay again if there's anything additional. Doesn't make it convenient for disabled persons. The handicapped seating is in the back and the seats are pushed very close to the table on the opposite end so anyone sitting with a disabled patron will need to keep that in mind. The chairs don't adjust and it's a very tight fit for any normal sized adult to squeeze into and out of. Decent portion size. I didn't particularly care for the meat but it was much better than Viet Sub location in Roanoke on the opposite end of Williamson. The noodles were Al dente and the broth was on the oily side. The broth was also warm and not hot. There are only 2 choices of condiments. No water, only bottled water for purchase. Everything comes in a recycle container. I got the beef broth with several cuts of beef. Small portion of the veggies and herbs. I would come back but I do think there's room for improvement. I think it would be helpful to put a sign to let people know what they're supposed to do when they walk in instead of them standing at the doorway waiting to be seated or walking to the counter and grabbing the menu( why bother if you have to use the form?) before sitting down. I give the place a 3.9 and rounded it up to a 4. Food is a 3.75/5, service is a 3.5/5.”

“I was very questionable while going through their security check, which was like going through a TSA checkpoint, but was pretty worth it as we had a good time. Now after reading some other reviews I see that they keep your information and record exactly who comes in, by the machine they scan your license into, guess that's their prerogative, but if you value your privacy, you may not want to come. Will say all the security guys were super friendly, just doing their jobs and getting everyone through as quickly as they could. Getting past, there was a $10 cover. The place is hugh with an upstairs and down. Downstairs was country, and upstairs was more a hip-hop dance club. DJ was downstairs once we entered. I don't think we realized there was a live band playing, when we came in, they were on a break. After about an hour or so, they came back out. I'm not sure who they were, but they really rocked the house they were super fun and sounded great. There's a large dance floor with a good sized stage for acts to play. It wasn't overly busy at first, and then it started to fill up. They have a number of different bars you can get drinks from when I went to two of them in the bartenders, who were always friendly and tried to get to you as quickly as they could. We ventured upstairs for a little bit to check out the scene, which was much busier upstairs at first, then downstairs. We had a really good time and no regrets by going. You definitely can have a lot of fun here. Looks like they'll put on some good shows, so it's a great place to catch up and coming country stars.”

I've paid more and been less pleased at other breakfast places downtown that I could name. “My mother and I are traveling from NC to home in Pa. the hotel we are staying at recommended Hollywood's. the food and service was amazing. our server recommended all the food and after trying several things we know why. it was all delicious! our server Olivia was one of the best we ever had. (I was a server for many years so I know the hard work it takes to be one of the best and Olivia was the best) I hope when my mom and I left tonight we made Olivia's night. I hate to say that since it's an American restaurant but I've been to Texas and back and I have never had a better experience of chips and salsa. The waitress was kind and eager to assist. “I am not normally a fan of buffet style restaurants, but I was with a tour group, so Golden Corral was our chosen location for dinner while in Roanoke. The restaurant was clean, the food was plentiful and the staff friendly. BUT- one person really stood out and that was Venus, the Hospitality Manager! Venus greeted us at the door welcoming us with a sign that she made herself. She checked on us multiple times during our meal and even sent us on our way with a box of fresh chocolate chip cookies. ❤️ If you are ever in the area and need a place for a large group to eat, I would definitely recommend Golden Corral Town Square Blvd in Roanoke, VA and be sure to ask for Venus!”
“Judging this only from the Easter buffet and not normal hours or menu, it was pretty good. The stuffed flounder was awesome, the pork roast was tasty, but not as tender as I would have liked, however please keep in mind that's just my opinion. The brussel sprouts were delicious and awesome! Salad was a little too fancy for my liking, since I'm a fan more of iceberg lettuce than fancy leaf lettuce. Overall I rated a four out of a five.”
“Comfort food at very reasonable prices. Salad bar is large. Steaks are fine; nothing to write home about however they are not expensive and come out very quickly. We ate at about 5 pm on a Monday and we were in and out in way less than an hour. So if you are looking for quick fairly tasty eats and good friendly service this is a good spot. (My cocktail was $3.50; in 2024 that is unheard of!)”
