“The food was delicious! Ordered 2 pho, 4 spring roll, pork bahn mi, and dumplings. All of my order was fresh, hot, and delicious! Not to mention my spring rolls were rolled perfect! The rice paper wasn’t hard in any spots, pork flavorful, great portion inside. The fish sauce was perfectly balanced. I love that it had some spice to it. I ordered from DoorDash and the reason I say the service because I called just to tell them about my order in general. And the person on the phone was very kind. The person did not rush me off the phone or anything of that nature and I appreciate that in general because I know they probably were busy. So I recommend this place five stars! And they DONT skimp on the meat in the pho!! I appreciate that“

“My mother and I are traveling from NC to home in Pa. the hotel we are staying at recommended Hollywood's. the food and service was amazing. our server recommended all the food and after trying several things we know why. it was all delicious! our server Olivia was one of the best we ever had. “Fortunato serves upscale Italian food in a pared down but trendy atmosphere. Yes, the semi/rustic style means diners either need to sit close together or shout to be heard. I was one of a weekday evening of a party of three all of whom love to try new food. Starting with the formaggi (cheese platter) to cannoli and semifreddo dessert, we were not disappointed. Each of us ordered a main dish. The vegetarian chose homemade pasta with a creamy cheese sauce; the meat eater, pork Milanese; and I, the roasted whole Branzino. I elelcted to trythis fish for comparison with similar dishes in a favorite Oriental restaurant. Fortunato’s Branzino preparation won hands down for me. The flesh was perfectly prepared - moist, tender, and almost falling off the bones. The side complimented the fish perfectly. I finished my cannoli accompanied by an espresso and a smile on my face.“

“We made our own brewery tour of Roanoke and had to visit Starr Hill. They have about 15 beers on tap and will let you try them before you commit to your full poor. The bartenders were super kind and patient as we tried several beers. I went for the Sun Burn summer ale and it is the PERFECT beer for sitting by the pool or on the boat probably getting more sunburned than you should. It's light and crisp and easy to drink! I really loved it! It's all I drank all evening. There's lots of tables and perfect for meeting friends or hanging out after work. They don't have food available l, but we were told it would be fine if we went next door grabbed Moe's and came back over. Definitely add this to your beer tour of Roanoke!“

“Delightfully surprised by this place. It was clearly a convenience store at one time, now a hole in the wall style Mexican joint with amazingly good food. They are still doing various renovations, so a bit cluttered inside but honestly that doesn’t matter - this place is all about the food. I had the Carnitas Tortas, basically a pork sandwich. It was so big I only ate half. Very tasty. The red hot sauce has a nice kick to it. They have authentic Mexican drinks available in the old cooler, including authentic Coca Cola in a glass bottle. I will definitely be coming back here to try the many different items on their menu.“

“I'm from Illinois, picking up a big truck in town tomorrow. My plane got in later tonight. This place down the street from my hotel. 8:50 pm. So hungry. Walked in, place closed at 9. I asked for a go bucket? They were so nice- so gracious. They were beginning to tear down the buffet. They allowed me to gawk for a minute. The nice lady pointed at the pork ribs that were left. Against my better judgement I grabbed them along with poundage of other favorite staples. They don't weigh your bucket here like most. Same price as the buffet if you can fit it in the bucket. I had a pile now, and the nice man helped me pin the lid shut with a big fatass rubber band while I used my basic strength pushing on the lid to hold it all in there. It was 9 pm. Food had been out a while. Anyone would agree that's not the nest time for the dishes to be showing their best. I didn't care. Hotel room. I scarfed, and gnawed and chewed on my pike for like 30 minutes. I was so stuffed. I just woke up and discovered my tongue slathering up and down the pork ribs to get every last drop of that fantastic sauce they use on the ribs. It was dark, Smokey, sweet, PERFECTLY VIRGINIA. It was all so delicious. Thank you guys for getting a hungry customer filled back up. I was pretty shocked at the price as well. Very reasonable. I live in IL. Probably won't get back through- I would love to go there at 4 pm when it's all fresh out of the ovens. NICE JOB!“

We were warmly greeted by the hostess, manager (I think), and server immediately upon arrival. Zachariah (our server) was just the right amount of attentive. The manager brought us our bottle of Saint M Riesling, which had a medium dry finish that perfectly accompanied our meal. We started with bruschetta, then salads, garlic knots, chicken piccata, manicotti, a chocolate-covered cannoli, and a ball of 2 types of gelato, cherry and almond dipped in chocolate! “Have passed by this place a few times while downtown, but never gone in and was not disappointed! It's larger inside than expected with three floors of seating and has a few larger tables for bigger parties. All the food we got was good and came out fast. It was around 2 pm on a Saturday when we went and wasn't overly busy. We particularly liked the seating at the top because we had a good view of the City Market Plaza. They had a few TVs playing bearing sporting events if that's your thing, and had both alcoholic and non-alcoholic choices. We ordered the Craft Ginger Beer and lemonade and the Ginger Beer was good without being too spicy while on the other hand the lemonade was very tart. A little added sugar balanced it out, but the note is for those who like it that way. Prices were fair. Spent about $27 with Appetizer (Price split between two), Drink, and Food. Will eat here again! “Very quaint and rustic. Old charm and great service. The service is amazing and food is excellent. Their world-famous salad is fun, they bring. plate of lettuce and then the server has a plate that you choose all your toppings. A tableside salad bar. My Wienerschnitzel was nice and tender. The little Swedish meatballs were great. They even sear the kabobs at your table. Great wine selection. Excellent place, old fashion service, a must try.“

The staff is friendly, the atmosphere is great, the food is delicious and the adult beverages are ice cold. The men's restroom is very clean considering how much it gets used but the toilet paper is a little on the rough side. “Came here after a hike at McAfee knob. Easy to find via gps. I would recommend going on a sunny day but not a rainy day. I went on a overcast rainy day which sucked because I couldn't see the views from the vineyard or walk around the grounds. The building is really quaint but not huge, the expectation is that most sit outside on the picnic tables grass etc. I guess the price is average for a bottle at the vineyard $30 for Cabernet Sauvignon. Not bad-decent wine. Like most wineries you can bring your own snacks etc to eat with your wine as long as you clean up after yourself.“

“Listen everyone. China Star is by far the most amazing Chinese restaurant in Roanoke. I've tried everywhere basically. Food is always spot on. There is never a mishap and if there is the owner corrects it immediately. She is the nicest and sweetest person in business. She will learn you face and voice! Again the food is beyond excellent. Always hot and fresh. The best thing is she has her prices very reasonable. Family of 6 can eat for 30 bucks and have leftovers!!!!! “We stopped here on a return trip from North Carolina. Outside was very inviting as was the decor of the entire eatery. We selected the beef and chicken enchilada, a beef combo plate, and of course a quesadia for the youngest. Our table was provided with warm chips and a delicious mild salsa that even our finicky youngest liked. Entrees were served quickly, and were wonderful. The guacamole were especially tasty and I would have enjoyed more of it. Our waiter never smiled and must have been having a really bad day. I didn't let this influence my tip as everything and everyone else was to our liking. The best laugh? Two of the bathroom stalls had cutouts in the door to open past the toilet!
