My husband took us here for our first wedding anniversary. Was highly recommended from neighbors and online, and reservations are highly encouraged. There's a front seating area, a quaint little patio outdoor section and a private back room for more intimate dinners. Our server was super knowledgeable about the seasonly changing menu. I kind of loved the way we each shared the small plates we ordered, made it feel more connected. We ordered the babaganoush, the potatoes aioli and the ratatouille pie. Honestly each dish was perfect in its own way, the babaganoush was fresh feeling, the potatoes perfectly crispy and the pie was remarkable. Topping it off with the creme fresh ice cream, I had no idea a dairyless ice cream could taste so good and I'm a certified ice cream snob. Really sad creme fresh closed but they live on through bloom. I would be glad if we came here every year for our anniversary

Came here for our anniversary dinner. I had high expectations and bloom didn't disappoint! We sat in the lounge dining area that had vinyl playing (they even let you put on a record of your choice). It was quiet and intimate. Servers were great. Cocktails were fantastic and the food was by far the best we had in Roanoke! And prices weren't bad either.

The service, food, and drinks here are always delicious. We have eaten their food at pop up events as well and it has been the same great quality

If I’m in Roanoke, this is by far my favorite place for dinner. So many locally sourced ingredients, expertly crafted dishes, and to top it off - the food is aesthetically pleasing.. highly recommend. Oh.. and the wine + drink selection is ?????? too

Every dish was a perfectly seasoned work of art. Our waitress Sydney was very attentive and patient, especially considering we stayed a bit later than usual and were seated in the jazz room. Kudos to not making us feel rushed as we waited for our ride. It was a wonderful birthday celebration for our friend so thank you!!

Easy best meal in Roanoke!

Kid-friendliness: Not a kids venue per se, but easily found several items that made my daughter happy and were kid friendly.. Without having a dumb it down to a grilled cheese sandwich or pasta with butter.

Extraordinary! Everything was absolutely delicious, full of flavor, fresh and unique. The Caesar salad with shrimp was PHENOMENAL, a must order! The flatbread was delicious, the bocadillo was perfectly cooked with just the right about of tang, and the heirloom tomatoes were fresh, thick and tasty. For dessert we had the chocolate waffle cone with homemade marshmallows and a chocolate raspberry sauce and the pot de creme which had lemon and plum flavors with a meringue and wafer and was the perfect palate cleanser. Alex delivered exceptional service and we loved being seated in the lounge area. We have already planned our return and this will definitely be a place I will go as often as I can! Superb and unlike anything else in Roanoke.

Overall, the food was okay, the service was good, and the atmosphere was nice. I was highly disappointed in the portion size to price ratio though. I ordered the $32 catfish dish (large portion). I asked what the difference between the smaller and larger portion was. The waitress told me it was a double portion. This was true and I expected two pieces of catfish. Especially considering it does not come with sides, just a bed of lettuce, some sauce, and a very small portion of essentially bacon bits and corn.

When the dish arrived, it was very small. The catfish was half the size that I receive at other restaurants. I then told the waitress that I was supposed to receive the double portion of catfish and she said that the double portion is a whole piece of catfish. I almost laughed. Nonetheless, I would choose other places over this simply because the value is not there. I ended up at Chipotle after this, because I was still hungry.

The food tasted fine, but was nothing spectacular. Of everyone at the table we all agreed the dishes were just okay. We do not plan to go back. If you are a light eater and don't mind spending alot on small dishes then you may like this place, otherwise I would go elsewhere.

Spectacular dining experience! One of the best meals I've ever eaten. We walked through the bright and buzzy main dining room and through the patio to our table in the lounge. The lounge was a cocoon of sound and texture thanks to the jazz music and beautiful finishes. Every detail felt so beautifully thought out, resulting in a spectacular experience. The seasonal okra dish made our eyes roll back in our heads. Our waitress was helpful and attentive. The pace of service was perfect. Every component of the blackberry shortcake was delightful, combining for one of the best desserts I've ever tried. Might need to come back to Roanoke just to eat here again!

Saturday brunch….details matter - and at Bloom you can see that from the moment you enter. Some may not like the “open kitchen” concept, but when I owned a restaurant (a million years ago) the state of the hood told me all I needed to know about the brigade. If we had a gleaming hood, I knew everyone was set & ready. It took a small ladder to reach the tiny vents in the back, and cleaning it took time and purpose. You had to care about the details. The gleaming hood greets you at Bloom and is a statement that sets the very tone for the experience. Clean-missing no detail. From the fresh faces in the front to the tattooed artisans on the line, the tables, flowers and bright windows gleam and greet you. Once seated, we chose coffee, a mimosa (with just a whiff of juice) and the chicken & waffles & the seasonal quiche. Here’s when the real experience began! It’s our anniversary weekend, and after many years of marriage - we are settling into a calm together. But as we ate our brunch today, we remembered those early days, when dressed so conservatively we flirted without restraint. Blooms food is the same….shes conservative at first glance, but has a mischievous alter-ego. Greek yogurt brushstrokes beneath a quiche? Dill and cilantro in the side of greens….? And a chicken & waffles to include the humble sweet potato? I blush at the convergence of these flavors….hints of curry on breakfast potatoes? I stifle my sighs! Details matter. Thank you team Bloom. You are setting the bar for brunch - and we lovers are all grateful!
