Like and ice cream shop of childhood dreams, the smell of their made in house Waffle cones washes over you when you walk in. Grateful they offer samples because it's impossible to decide what to get - so many delicious options. I settled on the seasonal banana puddin. 10/10. Amazing. should be a permanent flavor. One of the best ice cream shops I've ever visited.

Blue Cow Ice Cream Co. is such a gem! The location is perfect—with a stunning view of the river and even a little walking path nearby, it’s a great place to stop and relax. The parking lot is small, but it’s manageable and worth the effort. Inside, the shop has such a charming and welcoming vibe. The staff were honestly some of the nicest people I’ve encountered at any ice cream shop they were patient, friendly, and super helpful.
One thing I really appreciated was the generous tasting sizes. It helped us make the right choices without feeling rushed. The outdoor seating area was beautiful and made the whole experience even better.
My kids had the birthday cake ice cream and were all smiles the entire time. I went for the coffee flavor and it was amazing—smooth, rich, and perfect for a coffee lover like me. My husband kept it classic with the vanilla and loved every bite.
It was a great visit from start to finish, and we’ll absolutely be back next time we’re in the area!

They had three non dairy (vegan) flavours. The gf cone is also vegan which totally delighted me. All other cones have heavy whipping cream so are not vegan.
The staff were really friendly.

Either ice cream at Blue Cow or Krispy Kreme for a treat in Roanoke, you can't go wrong with either.
Decided after dinner tonight that I wanted ice cream. This was the closest open ice cream place at 7:30ish. It was close so I hopped in my rental and made the 2 minute drive over. When I arrived the parking lot was pretty empty. That wasn't a surprise since it was a rainy Thursday night in late January. By the time I left at 8:00 it was completly full and people were parking across the street.
The ice cream was delicious. I had a salted caramel brickle and it was great. I wish I had found this place at the beginning of my week here instead of my last night on this trip.
