This is the WORST DQ in Roanoke! Rude, disorganized, lie to customers' faces, obviously hate their job and will let everyone know it.
I went in Saturday for a birthday cake my mom ordered for me last week (I'm using her account to write this because I don't have an account for this). I had the receipt on my app and pulled up the card from the link DQ sent to my phone.
The first woman I spoke to was very rude and literally, her words, told me to wait because she didn't have time for me. I stood there while several other people walked in and she helped them before me (sort of -- a manager had to complete an order that this 1st woman walked away from without finishing the order).
When the 1st woman finally called me up, I explained very clearly that I was there to pick up a cake that had been ordered.
She said, "Wait .. you're what?" with a rude tone.
I repeated myself, even saying I was sorry because maybe I didn't speak loudly or clearly enough.
Again, she said, "I don't know what you want. What are you asking?"
AGAIN, I repeated myself.
How many times did I have to tell her I was there for a cake?
I gave her my name 3 times and my mom's name 3 times to check whose name it was under.
Finally, around the 4th time, she goes, "Oh, you're here for a cake? You had me all confused because that's not what you said."
Are you serious?!?!
She went to the back and returned with some weird green cake and someone else's name, slamming it down on the counter like she really hated her job. I told her that wasn't mine and showed her the picture from the e-mail of what my cake looked like (a pre-made DQ chocolate cake, not custom, with Happy Birthday on it).
She glared at me, rolled her eyes, brought it to the back, and returned with my cake. She slammed it on the counter so hard, the lid came off and I had to struggle, without her help, to get it back on.
She asked if I paid for it online. I told her I had a gift card and wasn't sure if it had been paid for (shouldn't they already know? how many people steal cakes because they don't even bother to check??).
She said, "What do you mean a gift card?"
I showed her the link AGAIN and she said it couldn't be used for that, then she said they don't accept gift cards. It seemed to me like she wanted me to pay for it another way so she wouldn't have to deal with entering the gift card.
At this time, someone overheard and came to help her. This 2nd lady was nice but she didn't know how to enter a gift card, either. How do the employees of a DQ not know how to enter a DQ gift card? Makes no sense!
After asking someone else and looking up something, she finally found it and told the 1st woman.
The 1st woman entered the gift card number and gave me a snide look as she said, "It's invalid. This code isn't real," or something like that to suggest I faked something.
The 2nd woman gave her kind of a side stare like she knew she was lying. The 2nd woman entered the number and WOW! Magic! It worked!
I was in there for almost half an hour just to pick up a freaking cake! All because the 1st woman took people before me who came in after me and then treated me like trash pretending not to understand simple orders and pretending my gift card wasn't real. I wish I had caught her name but my mom was waiting outside and we had to hurry to get home for my birthday party before the cake melted.
NEVER EVER go to this DQ!

SLow, slow slow…. Absolutely ridiculous. 3 milkshakes wait time 25 minutes. If they hadn’t taken my money first I would have left. Will not be back.
Wasnt happy with my recent visit. Nearly $20 with tax for 2 Blizzards. Luckily there was no extra charge for the long disgusting hair in one of them. We had to wait back thru the line for another one by which time my Blizzard has turned to milk. Not happy. DQ...do better.

I can't rate the food because they weren't serving customers. Thinking they closed at 10 pm, we rushed over after leaving the Berglund Center on a Saturday night. We arrived at 9:45. There were 3 cars in front of us in the drive-thru, so one of us checked the front door to see if that would be quicker. It was locked, so we stayed in line and tried to order through the app. That didn't work. At 9:50, the exterior lights turned off. By that time, there were three additional cars behind us. I proceeded to the window and asked what was up since the sign on the window said they closed at 10 pm and it wasn't yet 10. I was told they were already closed because they didn't want to be there until midnight cleaning up.
I can understand that sometimes things happen, but this was the second time this happened to us at this Dairy Queen location. Additionally, Google say they are open until 10 pm on Saturdays, with the drive-thru open until 11 pm. I wouldn't count on getting served unless you show up before 9:30.

Wasn't closing time and a bunch of cars were waiting, they just ignored everyone so they didn't have to do any work, and turned the lights out before they are set to close
Very slow

This has got to be the worst ran Dairy Queen. Very rarely do I go to Dairy Queen. But on the few occasions that I do want a blizzard, there is always an issue at this location. Whether waiting forever for ice cream, not having an open lobby, to tonight, where they were not serving ice cream?? The thing they are known for? And instead of having the app prepared for that, I ordered online, drove to the store, and was told they were not serving ice cream of burgers?

There were 3 cars past the speaker and 2 of us behind. I waited 10 minutes to get to the speaker to be greeted with “it will be a 10-15 minute wait before you can order”. This place is the most poorly run fast food restaurant around, and that’s saying something. 4 cars and you can’t take my order for 10-15 min? It’s ice cream, not rocket science. Obviously I drove away and I won’t be back.

Waited 30 minutes in line just to be told they were not fulfilling any ice cream orders due to the an order overflow. I would understand if they were slammed, but there should still be a sign or something instead of making me wait that long when all I was there for was ice cream. There was only one car behind us :(

1/25/2025 8:30pm with only a few people in the restaurant it took 15 minutes to get my food. The fries were cold, so my wife asked for some hot ones. The manager was trying to fix one of the ice cream machines, and was acting immature and was obnoxiously loud fussing about stuff always breaking. Then he allowed a transient male to come in with all of his belongings. This man sat at the table beside our table. I was there with my wife and grandson. We watched and listened to this guy curse and swear, swing and grab at air. It was appearant he was on some serious drugs as he clawed at his head and played on his phone. We were no longer comfortable being in the restaurant so we left. Corporate DQ will be getting a call, and hopefully the General Manager will be in touch with us. The food was not good and they charged $1.99 for a small kids cup of water!

Was by Dairy Queen at approximately 7:30pm on Friday the 27th. There were 5 us in the car and went through the drive thru. There were absolutely NO cars in parking lot or drive through. All we wanted was 1 hot fudge Sunday and 1 blizzard but before we could order, the person on the intercom said that he only had 2 employees working and it would be 15 minutes. We left. Again, NO cars in parking lot?!?!?!?
Ordered a burger with no tomatoes. Waited about 10 minutes for the food. Came inside and waited a good bit before anyone noticed. I had said no tomato and the sandwich had tomatoes. I wouldn’t have cared if the wait was not so long. I was able to listen to the cook I guess deny it being no tomato. Or deny being told, idk. She then came back and said “Do you want them to just take it off” When obviously I don’t want that when it’s a burger with multiple things on it and sauces… Pretty annoying experience all together because I then had to wait 10 minutes for a new one to be made.
