I've ordered off door dash twice and both times been cancelled, I called today to ask why and the guy who answered the phone, his only response was "we closed" if your closed you wouldn't answer the phone. I hear the food is amazing but can't find out for myself if they never accept and order, it's a true shame I hope they fix their issues or take themselves off doorsash.

My coworker and I love to sneak out and try new local restaurants and this one did not disappoint. We both had the Whiting and chicken, and both were delicious. The side dishes were also great. Only downside was that we came back to working smelling like fried food, and everyone asked us where we had been. But hopefully they went to try it too.

Best fried chicken, fish, collards, cornbread, Mac & cheese, pinto beans, & banana pudding ever. Please support them so they don't close.

So this is my first time eating here and I can say good things. I ordered the catfish dinner with mac n cheese and collard greens and it came with hushpuppies. I started off with the mac because I love me some mac n cheese and it was ok tbh. Next I tasted the collard greens and I thought they were awesome!! Some of the best collard greens I've had in a while! Next was the hushpuppies and it was good and last but not least the catfish. First of all they give you two pieces of golden crispy catfish. I looked at it and I was like this better hit! When I pulled it apart it was cooked through and the outside looked well seasoned. When I tasted it I was like.. woah hold up. So I took another bite and I was like dang this hit!! I absolutely reccomend this place if you want some good soul food!!

Eaten there once it was great. But border take out and ordered the same thing as before and got a different portion. First time I got 2 pics of fish second time with take out only one. That's not fair

Thers has been no great soul food in town since Lowell's shut down years ago, so I was eagerly attentive first hearing of this place. Just on the edge of downtown, it stands as the lone eatery on the block with an easy carpark right beside. The decor is basic with the feeling of home, like it has the very soul its food is promised to provide. The menu includes rotating daily lunch specials (Monday meatloaf), plus fried catfish, chicken, breakfast, sandwiches and more. Plates include 2 fixin's, which contain classics, like collards, cabbage, home made mac n' cheese, and pinto beans. I chose catfish, my bride selected whiting. The solo waiter/cashier/food deliverer was working so hard, though the room wasn't full and a good thing it wasn't. She'd of been hopping! My catfish, collards and pintos arrived in a paper lined basket with plastic implements--no need to do the dishes--and didn't mind the polymer a bit. The food is all that matters. The 2 big fried catfish filets were amazing, perfectly fried, steaming hot. The entire meal had so much heat in it, steam rolled through lunch. So refreshing to have a hot meal served just that way. The catfish was the best ever, the collards fresh, the pintos hamhocked to soul perfection. So good! Get on over to Doc's soon as possible. For $10 bucks, the catfish can't be beat. Can't wait to try Doc's chicken! With time and experience, the order flow will improve and kick Doc's Soul Food right on up to 5 full stars.

The food is delicious. Fried catfish, mac and cheese, collard greens and cornbread were all seasoned to perfection. I can't believe someone complained about the price for two dinners with 2 two sides totalling $22. Its a steal. Will definitely come back when visiting Roanoke va. Make sure you visit this place. You will not be disappointed.

No frills here and none needed. Th food does all the talking and it is southern cooking well done! I had the fried fish special with sides of cabbage & collard greens. The collards are some of the best-prepared I've had locally. Everything was delicious and the eats are cheap! A bargain and more!
