The service at Cave Spring Kroger pharmacy has really taken a nose dive lately. I had surgery yesterday morning and the doc sent in a prescription for a pain med. I never heard a peep from the pharmacy. Tried calling several times and they wouldn't answer the phone. After being in pain all day and evening, my wife finally went up at 7:30 to check on my med...only to be told they couldn't fill it. Not calling as soon as they discovered they couldn't fill it is pretty crappy service.

I recently moved to Roanoke and the Cave Spring store was the closest so I've been shopping there for about six months. I'm surprised that there are good reviews for this store. My experience has been quite the opposite. The employees are disinterested and unfriendly and act as though they are doing me a favor by answering questions. The store is poorly lit, the isles are narrow, merchandise is placed too high on the shelves. Today I asked where I could find sun screen and the answer from the woman in the pharmacy was "... if we have it, look in this aisle or that aisle. My response was "what kind of an answer is that? why don't you show me where it's located. The employee looked at me like I was crazy for making such a request. she finally got off her butt and showed me but the attitude was very rude and unhelpful. the guy in the deli acted as though he was bored out of mind and that customers were a pain for him to deal with. These employees and their attitudes are a management issue and it seems that management is very deficient. I'm done with Kroger. I'll spend my money at Food Lion and hope that competition comes to Roanoke. Competition and a management change are the only things that will fix this problem.

They did away with Scan Bag and Go, reason I was given was stealing, really? Like self checkout doesn't afford the same opportunity.

Went to return stuff from another kroger and the csr's Sharon and Tiffany were so unprofessional. I had a receipt from the pick up order and a digital receipt on my phone for the pick up order. Showed both and they still would not offer a return on incorrectly priced items we purchased and wanted to return. So as Tiffany is walking away for some reason I tell her to go ahead and get the manager. So Jeff comes and does the exact same thing won't offer a refund because the paper receipt says transaction suspended but I have the digital receipt as well. I can't help what kind of receipt i get from a pick up order. I had the digital receipt which was enough to begin with. After about an hour of waiting and dealing with these rude people they finally gave me a refund and I was so upset I couldn't even do the shopping I wanted to do as well. A twenty minute trip turned into an hour ordeal just to return items I paid for.

Unfortunately, I have had a couple sour incidents with this store. I've been using their curbside pick during COVID and it started out great. It's just gone downhill in the last couple months. I've been given the wrong groceries, shorted items and when I call about them the pickup manager was very rude then lied to me saying the store manager was in a meeting and couldn't be reached - when I called right back and asked for him he was on the phone right away. This time I ordered a very small order (7 items total) including 4 pears. I got home and brought my bags in...1 pear. When I called they can't just refund or correct the order. I have to come into the store to get my refund. In the grand scheme of things this is not bad, but really annoying. I really like the Salem Kroger. They're awesome!

would recommend they enforce mask wearing policies, especially for their employees, but also the clientele. I saw all ages of people there without them when we need to be safe. Another thing was there were absolutely zero shopping carts in the store ready for use and two teen employees sitting where the carts are supposed to be just chatting away. outside of that would maybe say up your options for meats and veggies when the pandemic is over or sooner if possible. Outside of these things it is a store that has a good enough selection to do and is easy to get around.

Too bad most of the Roanoke Valley has virtually no grocery competition. At this and other Kroger stores in the area, I am accustomed to two frequent disappoinments: poor quality produce and price errors. In a trip into this Kroger on 07 June 2002, I intended to buy an 18-count carton of Kroger large eggs and a bag of navel oranges. First stop in the produce section for oranges: the first 2 bags of oranges I laid eyes on had rotten oranges within. I don't just mean soft or overripe, I mean at least 30% covered in mold or leaching brown, foul-smelling liquid from within. I would have taken them to the customer dis-service counter to ask why they would leave such disgusting garbage on the shelf, but didn't feel standing in line while attempting to practice social distancing. Anyway, since the last 2 bags of oranges I did purchase at Kroger on prior visits had inedible specimens, I'm sure a visit to the dis-service counter would be a waste of time.Next stop: eggs. The only item I bought at this visit, and of course upon checking out, it rang up at the wrong price. I told the cashier that I would like a price check, and she asked the bagger to do that. Problem was, the bagger didn't know where the eggs are located. Seriously?? I went with the bagger to show him where the eggs are located, where it was determined that I was correct about the price. Too bad Kroger evidently no longer has the "scan-right" guarantee that they used to advertise. Overpriced scanning at the register is a common problem, it happened on my previous visit to a different Kroger, in which case it rang up $0.50 higher than the price clearly featured on the front page of their weekly circular.Third world grocery store, but that's all Roanoke has unless you want to drive 20 miles round trip to shop at one of the few 'boutique' grocery stores.

I find most of what I want here, the produce is good because of the volume they push through. I just wish they would do a decent job of programming the self- check machines. They are the worst in town, and if they aren't going to pay for staff, they could at least pay to get the machines working consistently. Even the employees assigned to they complain about them.

I've been shopping at this Kroger every week for many years, and found it to be adequate for my needs and convenient to my home. As one of the other posters said, the staff has always been lovely and professional. However, recently, I've noticed that some of the cashiers have been extremely unpleasant and bordering on rude. Most recently the person who works in customer service, and sometimes bags groceries was downright nasty to me on two occasions. I'm aware that having to deal with customers and their complaints on a daily basis can be challenging, however, there is no excuse for treating customers this way. If it's so difficult for them to be at least somewhat civil, and if they take it so personally when the customer has a problem, then they have obviously made the wrong career choice. This is my preferred Kroger, but if this continues, I will shop at one of the other nearby locations. No one needs to take grief from the staff when spending their hard-earned dollars on groceries.

Kroger really let me down when I depended on them. I have done Clicklist orders many times but today my order was lost. No explanation and no alternative offered. Will be calling Kroger corporate as this was the day, of course, when there was no time left to do a walk through myself. Maybe it is time to try Walmart or Food Lion. The Clicklist phone staff was cordial and very young but not able to help.

They used to have great bagels from their bakers, however, they've recently changed their recipe and are no longer the same any more. They do have the option in their bakery to order specialized cakes and such. They could have offer a more variety of fresh baked breads and some of their baked goods are not in a sealed bag which results in the bread going bad quicker than usual.

Going late on a Sunday morning, they can be short on some things.

Cleanest and most organized Kroger in Roanoke. The staff is extremely friendly and goes out of their way to make sure you are finding everything okay. Each aisle is always stocked and downloading the app will allow you to save several dollars on different products. Each Friday there is a download on the app for a free item which makes shopping at Kroger even better. When you enter, there is a bar on the left side with seating and great collection of drinks! There is also a Starbucks inside. Always love shopping here!

To be profiled and treated the way I was treated today by a lady named Judy is disgusting. This is ridiculous considering Kroger's is my go to store. Hmmmmmm. Just finished buying my stuff from Wal-Mart. Just lost a loyal customer until I feel the situation is rectified.

Paul made a lovely cheese and cracker appetizer with blueberry jam. I bought everything needed to make it.
