You should change your hours if u are not going to be open, so people don't drive miles out of the way.

We came here because of the organic food, and we were prepared to love it, but ... The service was excruciatingly slow. On the positive side, my husband enjoyed his chicken wings. However, my daughter and I were both very disappointed with our steaks. I requested mine Medium+, but it was rare. I ate it because I was very hungry, and no way I was going to send it back after how long it took to come! My daughter ordered hers Medium Rare, which it was, but both steaks were cold as if they had sat for awhile. There was absolutely no seasoning whatsoever on either steak, and we had to request salt & pepper. When we did, the overworked waitress didn't even ask if there was a problem. When a meal takes so long to arrive, you have plenty of time to notice the atmosphere. The best thing I could say is the vintage ceiling is beautiful. It's a restaurant in a nice old building with a very busy waitress rushing back and forth delivering food that wasn't ours. We will not bother to go back again.

Horrible food. Horrible service. The piano player was the best thing about the whole experience. Nobody ever asked how anything was because I think they know. Server was MIA for most of the visit actually. I live in the neighborhood and have been coming to this place for years. It used to be so good but I feel ripped off for the money I spent and what we received. Pitiful.
I wanted the burger which I’ve had before and was good then, but they were out of it already. Small brunch menu so you gotta stock up so you don’t run out of a popular item in less than 2 hours. So,
I got the Monte Cristo and it was cold and all soggy bread with some sort of jelly on it and the littlest piece of ham that exists and a tiny bit of cheese. I couldn’t believe that this is what they served me. Cold potatoes/homefries and tiny portion.
My mom got the Eggs Bernadette. She didn’t want to be mean but she hated it. The greens were hard and tasteless and egg undercooked.
My wife said her Eggs Benedict was ok but nothing to write home about.
And it was Mother’s Day so it really put a damper on a special day.
Again, I think we only saw the server 2 or 3 times. He was not friendly, never smiled. He never apologized for the hour we waited for the horrible food. And they were not slammed. No manager ever came by and asked how everything was either. Really felt neglected and ripped off. It hurts to have to write this because like I said, we have been going there for years but it’s the truth. Sometimes people have to hear the harsh truth so they can improve or they will fall by the wayside. I will pay for good food, it’s not about the money but everything was overpriced. I would not recommend this place at all. I won’t go back.

A last minute late dinner. We walked in a few minutes after 8:30, no reservation and they take their last reservation for 8:45. We were warmly welcomed and had a great dinner. Two of us had the PEI mussels with Benton’s bacon. Always a good choice at LR. Pork chop with bok choy and mashed potatoes was also delicious.

Parking: Big lot across the street behind Roanoke Co-Op and the church on the corner if there are no on-street parking spots available.

My food (vegetable papardelle) was insanely greasy, so greasy that it made me sick as I was eating it. My stomach is sour as I write this because the sauce for one small portion of noodles and vegetables was composed of prob 4+ tbsp of butter. My partner thought his meal (fish and chips) was okay but agrees not worth the price. Our server did not check on us during the meal. Overall the atmosphere is nice. I hear the cocktails are good but we don’t drink. We may go back eventually but we’ll prob stick to cheaper local restaurants with better food like Cafe XpressEdit: it is hours later and my stomach is very upset because of how greasy the food I ate was. I will not be eating here again. Also the dish I got was the only full size vegetarian thing on the menu so there weren’t many other options.

Sad to see this place falling on hard times as it used to be the anchor of the neighborhood restaurant strip. Had two Manhattans, one was made with vermouth, the other was just rye on fancy ice with a cherry. Everyone at the table had drinks that were a bit off. This in sharp contrast to previous experiences where you could get a delicious bespoke cocktail any day of the week. Tried to get the server but she was nowhere to be found and seemed to be having a tough time personally so I decided I didn't want to overburden her. They were out of literally everything despite having reservations on the books. My favorite, the mussels were cold and not nearly as flavorful as previous experiences. The broth was nearly flavorless which is typically the best part of it.The mains were mediocre.Dessert was a highlight, but next time I would probably just go to Pops.Hoping they can right the ship before they become the next Billy's.

Not sure what has happened to local roots but it isn’t as good as it used to be. We hadn’t been for a while (having a kid will do that) so I was excited when my husband and I decided to have a date night there. We arrived at our appointed time of 5:30 and the place was near empty. Ordered drinks and asked for the mussels to start. We were told that they were out of the mussels …. Dinner service had just started so I’m not sure if they just forgot to mark it off the menu or what but we went with the chicken wings (not on the menu but apparently a special tonight). Granted the wings were tasty but nothing else on the menu looked appetizing. We got our check and went elsewhere for dinner. Disappointing as local roots used to be a great place to eat with a warm environment and unique dishes. Tonight was not the case.

The service was atrocious from the moment we walked in. The bartender was attentive, but the 2 waitresses just kept running to hide in a side room right across from the bar. There were several times they were gossiping and made guest wait until they were done. There were 6 tables sat while we were there, 4 of which got up and left 10 mins into their visit. We were in the restaurant for 50 mins, during that time we received our drinks we ordered, that was all. The waitresses kept hiding, we never got the appetizer we ordered. When guest left, the staff didn’t try to stop them or better their experience. The idea of this restaurant is organic farm to table, which should be a wonderful experience. The wait staff’s inattentiveness and rudeness is literally running people with reservations out faster than they’re coming in. This was my first experience here, I wouldn’t go back or recommend it to anyone.
