The food at Roanoke Weiner Stand was great — fresh, tasty, and definitely worth trying if you’re craving a good hot dog. Unfortunately, the customer service left a lot to be desired. No one was friendly or welcoming, and the atmosphere felt uninviting. It’s disappointing because the food speaks for itself, but the lack of hospitality really takes away from the experience.

I have been a loyal Roanoke wiener stand customer since childhood and have always loved the hot dogs. They bring back good memories, similar to Jak’n Jil in Charlottesville.
On a recent visit to the #2 Brandon avenue location with 3 kids (ages 3, 6, and 8), I was cutting up the 3 year olds hot dog when an employee commented, “dude, why’re you cutting it up? It’s soft, she can eat it.” While I appreciate the friendly atmosphere, I was a little taken aback when I explained my concern about choking hazards for young children, and the employee said “That’s silly, it’s totally safe.” While I get the hot dog is soft, young kids are still at risk of choking. I think erring on the side of caution is best, and I hope they will be more understanding of safety concerns in the future. We still enjoyed our meal!

I wish they would make enough Sloppy Joe that they could make it to closing. I drove out of my way twice to get the sloppy Joe and times they were out today it is about 3 PM and they don’t close until seven. I don’t like hot dogs so I have to end up leaving and going somewhere else each time.

I went for the first time and got two combos. The lady at the counter was very friendly. The hotdogs were gross and cold and the buns were stale. There were barely any fries in the small basket. It was VERY overpriced for what you get, which is soggy cold hot dogs and a handful of fries. $25 is just TOO much.
