Classic Roanoke experience, always open, been there forever, and chili and hotdogs/burgers with egg at 3am sometimes its perfect. No ketchup there, mustard only! Lots of other lovely traditions there.

This is a local gem. Been the same place for like 200 years or something like that.. the food is consistent.. they stick to the basics. Open 24 hours. Cash only. No call in orders. I love their hotdogs and the chili with onions is so good, unfortunately it doesn't always love me back. You've gotta go just to say you've been!

A staple in Roanoke. My father used to go to this establishment from the orphanage that used to be a part of St. Andrews. Dad would tell me how he would save up from a day of caddy work to get a burger, hot dog and a coke. I will always stop by this place anytime I'm in the Roanoke area. Great staff, solid chili, and some good conversation.

Waiting for the 6:15 AM Bus, walking in November Roanoke, freezing November wind. Still have 2 hrs left, and I walked upon this shop that appeared to be open. It cozy and warm, also affordable. Great food for the price

This is a Roanoke staple, and is a must for anyone visiting. You cannot say you experienced Roanoke culture without eating at Texas Tavern. The chili is my favorite, followed by a few secret menu items. Texas Tavern sticks to its roots, cash only, and some of the best prices for a lunch or post-drinking food. Roanoke isn't Roanoke without Texas Tavern.

Went there today for the first time in 25 years and ordered 2 cheesies with. A random guy which appeared to be a regular sat down between 2 others at the bar and skipped the ordering line in front of 3 others who were waiting. Food was fast and cheap! You cant expect much for the price but they definitely give you your money worth. I should’ve got a triple patty though.
