We stayed at the country in and decided to have a quick dinner upon getting into Roanoke - it was our first time here and we checked out reviews on a few different sources and this one restaurant seemed to be a very solid choice. The organic chicken breadt was excellent, cannot tell you how wonderful it was - they also have a great appetizer menu where you can order a few appetizers in place of an entree. Passing through Roanoke found The River and Rail online. Showed up an hour before our reservation; no problem, we had our table within 5 minutes. All dishes included something unique. Went with a party of 12, such a lively and fun atmosphere! The service was a little slow but the food was worth the wait! The fried oyster wraps were amazing, the hangar steak was well prepared and delicious, and the chicken was especially moist and lovely. We were all pleased with our meals and will return.
