Lovely location not far out of the way, but I'm surprised more people haven't mentioned that there's no food available. You're free to have some delivered or bring your own, but it's still disappointing to not have anything but oyster crackers offered by Valhalla. They close pretty early on Saturday for a place that serves alcohol.
The view is naturally good. Although it needs a bit of clearing. We come to try the tasting. It is a tiny sip on the bottom of a not-a-wine glass with no introduction or description. The wines are not presented at this "tasting". There are no walkways to walk, most of the outside tables are not in the shade. It's just too hot to sit there as the place is open only on Saturday 12-5, while it is very hot outside. Wine itself (dry red, nothing else said about it) was also not very good. Disappointed.
Beautiful winery and worth the windy mountain drive. Taste all the wine they have for $12 plus get a glass! I got a bottle of Cornucopia it was so good. I highly recommend grabbing a charcuterie to go from Well Hung Vineyards and heading up to this gorgeous spot. The wine is delicious and they have indoor and outdoor seating both with amazing views of the mountains and Roanoke.
My daughter got married at Valhalla. I do not recommend for any couple wanting to get married there. Yes, it's a beautiful view but for the price that you have to pay. We didn't get to do the rehearsal we didn't have a lot of decorations from the beginning. We didn't get to finish decorating you were rushed because" they don't want to stay there all day".
This place would be amazing if it had better wine and more of a selection ☹️
Somewhat disappointed in the cleanliness, especially the outdoor facade. Spiderwebs and leaf debris all over, had to ask for outdoor table to be cleaned, all glass needed a cleaning, and staff seemed to be oblivious to all of it. A good house cleaning would bring this sweet spot back to its glory days.
Rude costumer service. I asked for a glass of wine for my wife and I and after we received the glass, there were copious amount of sediments and a mosquito. I kindly asked for another glass and she said “It’s not my fault. Why would I serve you another glass!?”On a side note, the patio has absolutely no shade. So if you come on a sunny day, expect to get a sunburn.Save the trip! Go somewhere else!
I don’t know. We drove up on the Fourth of July (the google search specifically says “4th of July, holiday hours 6-10 PM”) but we didn’t get a chance to try the wine or enjoy the views. It was closed.
Wines were ok but not great. Tasting was 5 red wines and felt rushed. And the one POC who came in for a tasting while we were there was carded and no one else was the whole time we were there.
An amazing night
