I tell ya what, those burgers at the Devils Backbone Brewpub are about as close to perfect as a man could ask for. They’re thick, juicy, and cooked just right—none of that fancy nonsense, just a proper burger done the way it ought to be. The bun’s soft but holds together, the toppings are fresh, and every bite makes you nod in quiet approval, like you just saw your propane grill light up on the first spark. It’s the kind of burger that makes you appreciate the simple things done well.

And then there’s the O’Fest beer—now that’s a brew that pairs with a good meal the way a well-tuned mower pairs with a fresh-cut lawn. Smooth, malty, just a touch of sweetness, and not so heavy it gets in the way of your burger. It’s the kind of beer you can sit back with after a long day, enjoying that clean, crisp finish while looking out at the Blue Ridge. I’ll tell you what, I’d drive out of my way to get another round of that combo.

Overall the property is very nice. We tent camped in the tent camping sites. Ours was 56, but also shown are some directly across from us that were more grassy. They also have RV camping sites that looked very nice. The bathhouse was convenient and clean. The outside is a great place to hang out in nice weather. There was karaoke on Friday night, which provided good entertainment. While they have a decent menu, the food is just ok. We had BBQ and Burgers from the outside grill. I don't think the restaurant is much better from what we observed from others. They have coffee and pastries for purchase from 8am-11am for campers. Saturday night it rained, so there wasn't much to do outside but the restaurant/bar gets pretty full so it would be nice if they had an area with music, etc for rainy days. My only complaints are the bartenders at the restaurant bar are not very friendly. They don't address or acknowledge you unless you are directly placing an order. This happened both nights, with the second night we ended up just leaving since they didn't offer to refill our beers or acknowledge us at all. This seems odd since you are most likely having people coming from all over and a little camaraderie would go a long way. The only other complaint is they could use more lighting around the front entrance, parking lot and the paths near the camps, even if its just some solar lights. Otherwise the property was nicely maintained and a lot of fun if something is going on.

Came for the lumberjack festival and stayed for dinner. We got the nachos with chicken, the meat dip sandwich and the pub burger. Everything was delicious and service was great. We sat out on the patio and it was the perfect weather for a fantastic dinner.

Everything was fantastic! Not sure why they don't keep ketchup at the table though.

Good area with lots to do. The Lumberjack event was pretty cool with lots of drink options. We got food and they ran out of chips, instead of giving us an alternative side they wanted us to pay to upgrade a side…So we had to pay the same price with no side or more with a different side because of their mistake. That was wild to me. I would come back, but that was very disappointing and a bit unprofessional. The food also was very bland and not worth the price.

The store at basecamp needs to get some hoodies in for the winter. I was looking forward to going to the store to buy one but all they had was t-shirts in the winter time. Very disappointing…..

This place is big! We came for Saturday dinner and the Brisket was INCREDIBLE. One of the beers I was looking at ended up being a special for $4, which was a win. Our server was great.

Had a really good experience last Friday after not visiting DB for a couple of years due to bad experiences. The Friday (4) Rib Special was great and just the right amount that we shared. Also had the smoked cream corn which was delicious. The 8 Point IPA is excellent as always and my wife enjoyed the pear lager. The only question/issue I had after looking over my check later is what is the $.30 Delivery Fee? Maybe next time I should ask to tell me when order is ready and I will eat in the kitchen to save this silly charge!
