We love right down the street from River Rock, which is also next to most of America’s top 10 fast food burger joints. I don’t understand why anyone would stop anywhere else. The burgers here are the best example of an American burger, the curly fries are a classic and just the perfect compliment to the burger. The restaurant decor and service is good, but we come for the food.

If you're lucky, they might throw something together for you with whatever they've got in the kitchen, and that's a strong maybe. Defiantly only for drinking beers with old guys, that is if you don't mind paying 5 dollars for a 12oz Coors light.

First I have ever stopped here and was very satisfied. I seldom order burgers out, yet it felt totally right today, a bacon cheeseburger and I was right; outstandingly delicious and cooked exactly as I asked. A great view of the river. Service was very polite, swift and attentive. This seems to be a neighborhood kind of establishment that has been here forever, that plenty must know yet no one knows. The prices are reasonable. The atmosphere reminds me strongly of hometown small town friendly as heck grill and beer bar. For those that want a high end, new and pristine fashion decor interior eatery this would not wow you, however those appreciating a comfortable cozy, clean though somewhat dated and homey setting this is all us. It also has plentiful big screens for sports, news or daytime TV watching. Very glad I gave a new to me place a lunch try out today.

We come to RR often for the burgers, atmosphere, their view of the River, and to check on Dave & Penny ...They have the best burgers & sandwiches in our end of the County & beyond...and the COLDEST beer anywhere! They greet the patrons, know most, and attend to all!If you ride by at lunchtime, you'll see a crowded parking lot as testimony to their food & service to the working guys & gals of the area! Go early, call ahead, or take out so others can have a seat! They do the lunch crowd but shut the grill when the crowd leaves. A 2-person operation that has served our end of Roa County for many years; we dread any thoughts of not having The River Rock as a go to, comfort place, combing great ppl & outstanding short order the way it should be done! 4-star only b/c they don't stay open later (selfish on us), they sometimes are shut when they (apparently) go to a UVA Football Games, or just decide to not be there b/c they can ! Go see 'em!!!

Great food. Great prices. Nice view of the river, a little hard to see in summer, though. Local bar atmosphere. Widescreen tv's Low ceilings, pool table, low lighting, lingering cigarette smell. Sandwich, chips & drink for under $10. Very friendly people.
