I recently had the pleasure of dining at Afghan Kabob, an Afghan restaurant that has recently transitioned to new management. While the restaurant has kept its beloved name and classic dishes, the subtle changes in both the menu and atmosphere are undeniable—and delightful.

Upon entering, the warm, rustic décor immediately sets a cozy tone, with traditional Afghan textiles and soft lighting creating a welcoming environment. The staff, attentive and genuinely friendly, made sure we felt right at home from the moment we arrived.

We started with the Bolani, a crispy stuffed flatbread filled with potato and green onions. It was perfectly seasoned and served with a tangy yogurt sauce that complemented the dish beautifully. The portion was generous and set a great tone for the meal ahead.

For the main course, we opted for the Kabuli Pulao and the Lamb kabob. The Kabuli Pulao was a wonderful balance of sweet and savory, with tender lamb buried beneath fluffy, saffron-infused rice, garnished with raisins and slivers of carrot. It was a comforting dish that spoke to the heart of Afghan culinary tradition. The Lamb kabob, on the other hand, was rich and flavorful, with perfectly spiced served alongside a refreshing cucumber and tomato salad. Both dishes showcased a depth of flavor that has clearly been refined under the new management’s touch.

What stood out most was the attention to detail and the freshness of the ingredients, which have only improved with the change in management. While the menu remains mostly unchanged, there’s an added focus on presentation and flavor consistency that wasn’t as prominent before.

We finished with the traditional Afghan dessert, Firnee, a sweet and creamy custard delicately flavored with cardamom and topped with crushed pistachios. It was a perfect end to the meal—light, fragrant, and satisfying without being overly sweet.

Overall, Afghan Kabob under its new management retains the authentic flavors that made it a neighborhood favorite but has elevated the dining experience with improved service and a refined approach to its dishes. Whether you’re a longtime fan or a first-time visitor, this place is a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Afghan cuisine

I recently visited Afghan Kabob Restaurant and was blown away by the incredible transformation under the new management! The ambiance is warm and inviting, making it the perfect spot for a cozy meal. The food is absolutely delicious, with each dish bursting with authentic flavors and spices. The kebabs were perfectly cooked, tender, and juicy. The service was impeccable, with attentive and friendly staff who made us feel right at home. I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an authentic Afghan dining experience. Five stars all the way!

"Dear family and friends, if you're thinking about ordering food, you're in the right place! This place has the best food—so delicious. I ordered for 50 people and ended up with almost enough for 80! The food was amazing, and even though most of my friends aren’t Afghan, they really enjoyed it. Everyone kept asking where I ordered from. So, for future events, this is definitely the best place to order from.

My dad brought some home one time. It was supposed to be his lunch, but i ended up eating most of it, and the lamb kebabs are to die for. They give a really good quantity, a full plate with rice, chickpeas, the kebab of course and naan but lots of all it. Good sauces and spices, too. Just generally, REALLY good food, gotta give them credit. Worth it. ???

Kid-friendliness: My dad brought it home for me. I'm 14, and just generally I don't see any way it wouldn't be totally kid friendly

Some of the best food you can get for the price. As a college kid money is always tight and the lunch special is how I’ve made it through many days.

I ordered shornakhod with other food for pick up ,Instead of shornakhod they packed Nakhod qorma without notifying me . When I called them about this is not what I ordered ,They told me “Oh we ran out shornakhod “ instead we placed a nakhod qorma .. they told me restaurant will refund my money but I gotta drive all the way back to the restaurant so they can pay me cash .. I’m not gonna drive all the way to Springfield and that’s inappropriate and unacceptable at all ..
I never write a 1 star review but I’m totally disappointed.

We really enjoyed this restaurant! Really cozy place with nice lighting and friendly staff. The food we ordered was amazing - Deluxe Special Kabobs (chicken, beef, and lamb kabobs with rice and bread), Mantu dumplings, and sides of Sabzi spinach. Perfect place to satisfy kabob cravings!

This is a very authentic restaurant. They bake their own bread and you can taste it. The food is delicious and portion sizes are very good. When in the area, don’t miss this place.
