Our team of 17 held its end of season luncheon at Della J’s Alexandria VA. The entire experience (e.g., establishment, food, service, etc.) was awesome! The staff… It started with Q&A with the hostess (Yvette), who also walked me thru the website to view menu options and how to make an online reservation. Then there was the manager (Catrina) who clearly explained the reservation process, payment and the services to be provided on the day of the reservation. And lastly, our server (Maria) worked the party solo! She was professional, organized and went above and beyond accommodating every request with a smile. I would definitely return.

Went around 4:30-5pm on a Sunday. It was kind of busy but the food was great and seating didn’t take long. The food was great and tasty. This was the salmon stuffed with crab and sweet mash potatoes and Mac and cheese. I do think the drinks could have been better. Lemonade drink was a fountain lemonade something …. Overall great atmosphere and food. Kid friendly and nice staff.

I have driven by this place for years and for some odd reason never checked it out. My friend and I needed a quick brunch and did not want to deal with parking in Old Town, so I stumbled upon Della J's through a Google search and I am so glad we tried it. Everything we ate was great. We both went for the chicken & waffles, her the regular waffles and I went with the red velvet. The chicken tenders were crisp & flavorful, and waffles light & fluffy. If you get the red velvet waffles, pass on the syrup & get the cream cheese glaze. You won't be disappointed. We got fried green tomatoes and panko mac & cheese balls for apps & both were a good choice. The sauce that comes with the fried tomatoes is off-putting at first if you are not a fan of horseradish, but it grows on you after a few bites. Even the sweet tea was good. The staff was friendly, and the atmosphere was serene and welcoming (at 12:30 pm on a Saturday). Also, I normally hate music playing in a restaurant because it is frequently too loud but the R&B soundtrack playing softly in the background added to the vibe. There were a bunch of items on the menu I want to try, so I will definitely be returning.

Had the opportunity to eat at Della J's and let me say ooh baby. You won't be disappointed in the food. Many restaurants present themselves as Southern Cooking, but Della J's is at the apex. That potato salad is just like mama's..

Disappointed. Not as classy, not as good of customer service as when they were located on backlick road. I can no longer recommend this restaurant to my family and friends. I waited until I was able to go to the new location at least 3 times before I posted my review.

Service needs to be addressed. Extremely slow and hostess very unpleasant and rude. Apparently they have issues with food theft because the tone and attitude that I received when attempting to pick up an order that I placed and paid for online was ridiculous.

Some dishes were good and others were average to below. Hush puppies were extremely dry and not sweet. Sweet potatoes we're good.

I always push for small businesses to grow and thrive. But this is a sad situation of where the business has tried to expand and haven't been able to maintain or even improve the quality of thier service or thier food. The move has done the exact opposite. Hire more people to improve your wait times, train all staff especially the ones greeting on professional courteous service to all clients and perhaps think about some ways to improve some of the staple dishes that are extremely bland and dry.

I know the restaurant doesn't control the type of client's coming in and patronizing their business. Perhaps it's the new neighborhood. To walk in and be glared at in scowled at from group of women coming out wasn't welcoming. So disappointed.

Ive been waiting for and hour and still have not got my food. Even people who have ordered after me got their food and left already. I don’t recommend for people who DONT want their time wasted.

These coconut panko jumbo shrimp were delectable. The fresh mixed vegetables and mashed sweet potatoes provided a perfect accompaniment. It was challenging to resist filling up on the heavenly biscuit/cornbread basket, delicious fried green tomatoes, and panko mac & cheese balls. Can't wait to visit again!

The first time there we made a reservation. The table was ready at assigned time. Food was good service was good. Food came out nice and hot. My only thing for not giving 5 stars is the amount of time we had to sit at the table before our server came over and took our drink orders.

Went with my one year old for lunch on a Monday. It was not crazy busy but busy for a Monday lunch. The decor was inviting and had a cohesive theme. Food was delicious. HUGE portions, we brought lots of food home. Even the kids meal was an adult portion. Sweet tea was actually sweet. Fried green tomato’s were yum! They placed us in a quiet corner so we didn’t bother other guests with our young one, which we appreciated. My only small issue is that the staff weren’t super friendly but I’ll give it to them as a case of the Mondays. Hope to come back for Thursday night Jazz night for a date.
