Review: Akhmal Kitchen/Khaas Cart/Food Ex Catering (the family running this uses all 3 names interchangeably)

I ordered catering for my son’s birthday party from them and had the WORST experience. I really want everyone to be aware and mindful when ordering from them. Firstly, I ordered food for 80 people and they charged $40 per person. Many of the items ran out during the event and when I requested if they had extras, they told me they did not. If you are charging per person, then you should definitely have food for everybody. Additionally the dishes that they sent me pictures of before hand looked nothing like the dishes, which were at my event. The dishes were sloppy and they were cooked at home by some auntie (not at the restaurant as I was told it would be). If you are cooking food at home and bringing it to an event, then you definitely should be charging less. $40/person means that you should be providing high-quality dishes with neat presentation.

This is not even the worst part. There were two dishes of mine which ended up being rotten. They did not have any replacement for these dishes as well and had no explanation for why two dishes were rotten, even though they claimed that they were made fresh. I’ve been requesting a refund from them and the ownerss Akmal and his daughter (she goes by the name Afra Sohaib on Facebook) blocked my number and refuse to refund for the two rotten dishes. They agreed to the refund initially, however, never sent the money and have blocked all communications from me.

Additionally, Afra was operating Food ex catering and Khaas kitchen without a proper license and LLC. She claims that she did have all proper licensing, however, my venue received licensing information from Akmal Kitchen. This is all to find out that her dad (Akmal) is involved in this scam. He allows her to use a few dishes from her restaurant and allows her to cook the rest at home to do Catering.

This is completely unprofessional, unethical, and completely wrong. As we rely on halal Food, as consumers. We do not have many options. Desi business owners really think that they can take advantage of us and run scams and steal our money.

Akmal catering provide amazing flavors and great catering and providing seemless process. Food was great quantity and flavors were amazing, everyone loved it. Thank you!!

Food was great akmal's kitchen put a lot of effort preparing live BBQ and serving, Lamb chops were a hit we had a party of 65 ppl everyone asked us about the food, where did you get it from? Was a common question.

Everything was great made our daughters graduation party memorable, Thank you!

Anytime I call them to place an order, they say we have catering order. Sorry . This is the 5th time I called them. Never gonna place order here again

Visited Akmal’s kitchen with friends and family recently located in Springfield, the Desi Hub. It has by far the best tasting Pakistani food in Northern Virginia! Menu has great options for all kinds of food from appetisers, vegetarian options to specialty food! We ordered the chicken pakoras, chaat for appetisers and for main course, mix sizzling platter, goat korma, Nihari (fall off the bone beef), chicken biryani, butter chicken. The biryani was very fresh, very fragrant and the chicken fall-off-the-bone moist and tender--some of the best we've had. The butter chicken was excellent-the sauce wonderful to enjoy with the moist and flaky naan. They also have buffet every day, which I will try next time!
The owners and staff are very friendly and accommodating! Everything has been consistently fresh, delicious, and filling. Generous portions as well. Will definitely be back here again n again!
Always enjoy their catered food at the weddings and parties. Permanent customer!

We are deeply grateful to Akmal’s Kitchen for their outstanding arrangements for Adil and Hira's wedding event. Despite being out of the country, Mr. Akmal stayed connected via livestream, while Mrs. Khizra Akmal and her team executed everything beautifully. The food was exceptionally delicious, with the live BBQ and Halva Puri being particular highlights.We wholeheartedly recommend Akmal’s Kitchen to everyone. Not only is the food exceptional, but Mr. and Mrs. Akmal are wonderful to work with. The food is so good! It tastes like home cooking! The worker was so helpful, he explained what different things on the menu were and it was fantastic! The meat just falls off the bone, the naan is warm and fresh! It’s an amazing spot!

If you like to have food cook properly. Make sure let them for proper preparing. They will make sure it gets done right.That's what I do and they'll make sure it cooked well.

Very good food but I called several times yesterday to place a pick up order and the number listed on the site is not a working number. So once I arrived around 7:30pm to order, I was then told they are closed and aren't taking anymore orders, and of course the door wasn't locked. When I asked why they were closed so early, I was told they had received a large catering order. I'm not really sure what that had to do with myself or a running functional business. Will not be returning here no time soon!!

Karahi kabab I was there saterday food was really old bed and they were hurry to close at 8 pm chicken biryani test like 4 day olds very bed service .
