Avoid at All Costs – Terrible Food and Even Worse Service
I really wanted to like this place since I love Chinese food, but this was one of the most disappointing experiences I’ve had at a restaurant.
The food was straight-up bad. The chicken was tough and overcooked in spots, the veggies were soggy, and nothing had that fresh, savory taste you expect from decent Chinese takeout or dine-in. Portions felt small for the price too – felt ripped off paying what we did for such low-quality meals.
Worse than the food was the customer service. The staff was rude and dismissive from the moment we walked in. Orders were messed up, no apologies, and when we tried to point out issues, we got attitude or ignored.
Stopped by Hong Kong Express in Springfield and it really hit the spot. This is classic Chinese takeout comfort food, generous portions, solid flavors, and quick service. The shrimp lo mein was tasty and filling, with tender shrimp and noodles cooked just right. The chicken with glass noodles was flavorful, especially with The hot and sour soup was so good the pork was incredibly soft and tender, making every bite delicious. Definitely one of my favorite dishes of the meal! 🍲😋 The sweet and sour chicken was a standout, crispy pieces with a bright, tangy sauce that was perfectly balanced, not too sweet and not too heavy. Everything tasted fresh, was packaged well for takeout, and portion sizes were great for sharing (or leftovers 😉). This is the kind of place you go to when you want something warm, familiar, and satisfying. If you’re in the Springfield area and craving simple, affordable, and comforting Chinese food, Hong Kong Express is a solid choice. I’ll definitely be back! 🍜✨

The vegetable egg foo young was absolutely delicious, and I really appreciated the option of brown rice — something you don’t often find at many Chinese restaurants. The service was attentive and friendly, and the staff showed real professionalism throughout the meal. Overall, a great dining experience that I’d gladly recommend.

The food at this Chinese restaurant is excellent and refreshingly healthy. I really appreciate that they serve brown rice and lightly boiled vegetables—perfect for anyone who prefers clean eating without sacrificing flavor. The staff are always welcoming, polite, and professional, making every visit a pleasant experience. Highly recommended for both the quality of the food and the wonderful service.

Classic quick Chinese food. This place is your standard go to when you need a quick Chinese pick-me-up. I ordered the pork fried rice and it was very good and prepared in under 10 minutes. The rice and pork were perfectly cooked and the flavor reminded me of all classic Chinese cuisine. I enjoy that the restaurant is quiet and has ample seating. The service was fast and the interactions with the staff were friendly. I look forward to trying other dishes here.

Order Online and not happy. I ordered Shrimp Pad Thai. Luckily , I didn't have till next day ( previous day was Friday) I opened up my order , it was pork pad Thai. If you order to go from this restaurant, check it before you leave. Not sure if I will go back or not.

I travel all across NOVA just for their salt and pepper shrimp. It’s perfectly fried with the skin on and tossed with jalapeños for a little kick. Served over broccoli and white rice.
It’s unfortunate that I have to write this. But after several years of take out from this joint, I’m finding another. The quality of food has gone down. They messed up my order; no noodles in chow mein? When I look online chow mein actually has noodles. Wait doesn’t mein mean noodles? Because in Korean myun means noodles… it’s quite coincidental that myun and mein sound alike. Wait what’s noodle in Japanese? Ramen? Hmm… interesting. So many shared vocab… but I digress. Just know that people make mistakes. This wasn’t the first time from this place. But when you get burned too many times you gotta stop creeping towards the fire. Unfortunately we threw out the “chow mein” which was quite bland; also sans noodle. From 4 stars down to 2 stars. :*{
Edit: I did a little research, and it seems like chow mein in the east coast is a vegetable goop thing (not that tasty). So I’ll adjust the rating to 3 stars. I would NOT recommend the chow mein; stick with orange chicken and general tso.
Excellent food, great service.
Love the Szechuan string beans. They adjust the spiciness to your taste. Generous takeout portions.

Best Chinese takeout in area, better flavor than most, less greasy and good price. The lo mein and the chicken broccoli are delicious.

Worst Chinese food I have ever had. There was no actual chicken meat in the orange chicken- chewy cartilage taste to it. Dumplings resembled dog meat. I grew up in Ravensworth & home visiting family. Ordered there because of convenience. Will never ever get food there again. Complete waste of money.
