We’d been excited to try Gonzo’s since reading an article about them in the paper a while back, and we were not disappointed. The chicken was delicious — flavorful and perfectly cooked. We tried sides of beans and rice, yuka, and plantains, and all were wonderful. Gonzo gave us a detailed description of the chicken roasting process and was so passionate about his food. We’ll be back!

In 2018 I stumbled onto this place, had no idea it would be the best rotisserie chicken I've ever had, maybe best chicken period! I even love the white meat here, and I don't like white meat, it's not dry like most places. The sauces and sides are also to die for; yuca fries and black beans and rice, heavenly. Easily the best chicken in the valley, in fact, I'd say best food. Perhaps the best Peruvian chicken on the East Coast. No I'm not exaggerating, I know it's hard to believe something like this exists in a little town of Staunton, but amazingly and unbelievably it does. A true gem in the area, can't give a high enough recommendation.

I’m so absolutely excited for Gonzalez to come back soon! It is literally the best chicken I’ve ever had in my life! The owner is absolutely amazing, he is always trying to help, and offer advice. He also creates such a friendly, warming and welcoming atmosphere when dining outside this small town food truck. I am anticipating its re-opening and waiting eagerly hungry for more.

Most, if not all, of the "phenomenal" reviews are posted by friends of Gonzo. The food is mediocre (at best) and (with its huge charcoal fire) the truck pumps out a "phenomenal" amount of greenhouse gases. You've been warned!

We drove from Nellysford (about 45 minutes) after reading all of the great reviews. Boy, were we disappointed. The staff was friendly and very helpful. But when it came time to eat, the chicken was dry and salty and the sides had some odd chemical taste. My husband guessed it was charcoal fluid. Not recommended and very suspicious that the other reviewers are friends of the owner.
