The woman who owns the restaurant and runs the truck is the sweetest person you'll ever meet, the food is astounding and I never leave without being happier than when I arrived. She donates her tips to the church and has been running that business forever. Absolutely couldn't recommend it more.

Wonderful pad thai - as good as any we could recall. Appetizers -- garden rolls and chicken satay -- were also excellent. The welcome was extremely warm and friendly, and the setting, in a nice residential neighborhood, was charming. If we lived in Staunton we'd definitely be regulars at this restaurant.

We love Thai food, and were excited to find this restaurant during a visit to Staunton. The owner and employees were absolutely lovely - friendly, warm, funny, and accommodating. The location is great: very close to downtown, and within walking distance too. Our meals were outstanding, and we plan to return next time we're in town!

Trying something new while travelling thru the area. Really enjoyed our meal here and service was great. It is a quirky place with a nice atmosphere. Sauces are brought to table so you have full control of how spicey the food is.

Everything we ordered, we loved. Service was excellent. Food and beers and cocktails were phenomenal. Highly recommend.

I only visited once (I’m from out of town) and had one dish (Drunken Noodles) but it was cooked perfectly and exactly what I wanted. It was a take-out order but I’d be happy to dine in as the restaurant is charming and the staff friendly. The price was very reasonable and the portion was generous.

We found - to our displeasure - that darn near all of the sit-down restaurants in Staunton have chosen to take Mondays off. VERY frustrating. One that we finally found that was open was the Ubon Thai Victorian Restaurant, in downtown Staunton. Having visited Thailand a few years back, we decided that a nice plate of Pad Thai would soothe our annoyance re the city of Staunton generally not serving food on Mondays. What a great choice! The Ubon Thai had a reasonably extensive menu for a small facility, and the service and server were kind and welcoming. We enjoyed talking with her about our adventures in Thailand back in 2019. It was the first time that we'd found Singha Beer since our return two years ago. :) My wife and daughter shared pork Pad Thai (share available at no charge), and I had a tasty plate of Chicken Raad Nah. The gravy was scrumptious.

Ubon is a great lady who serves excellent food in a relaxed atmosphere . I love this place . Can be as spicy as you want. I almost burned my face off though that was my choice ! Thai tea really good too.

Had really great Thai food and although the owner was on vacation, a Thai individual was managing the restaurant in her absence. Unfortunately, the air-conditioning was broken the evening we stopped during one of the hottest times of the summer. We were seated on the porch, overlooking the front entrance and, therefore, missed eating in the beautiful dining room. The food was excellent and the manager provided great conversation and an excellent "explanation" of the dishes.

We recently moved from Flushing Queens down to the Staunton area. We have visited several Thai restaurants from Harrisonburg down to Fisherville. We were greatly disappointed by the menus the freshness of the food and the preparation. We were told about "Ubon Thai" by our local banker. This place is unlike any time restaurant I've ever been to In My Life. The restaurant is situated in old Victorian house beautifully decorated between 19th century American and Thai culture we will make by Ubon herself the owner. Ubon means flower and she is delightful and as Sweet as any flower could be. She told us of all the different types of food; how it was prepared and many wonderful and interesting stories about the area Thailand and her family. The food was Tres Magnifique! The atmosphere was simply delightful and we felt as if we were invited to the home of a long time friend . She even surprised us at the end of our meal by giving us a wonderful traditional Thai dessert of sticky sweet rice with coconut fried. We will go back many , many times times again. Ubon Thai is a dream come true and so is the Lady herself!

We are regular "year -end" travelers to Staunton, and decided to try something different. Ubon's Thai Restaurant and Inn fit the category. Located a little from the downtown Staunton restaurant "district" we were the only customers in the brightly decorated (for the holidays) dining area. Owner Ubon was the cheerful & helpful hostess as described in other TA reviews. We ordered the fresh spring rolls and dumplings for appetizers..both delicious.I ordered hot tea and partner had a red wine. For dinner we had a veggie dish and a shrimp dish..both served with rice. If you want "thai hot" it is available-if you dare.

Excellent home cooked Thai food. Loved the atmosphere it's funky and eclectic in that two world have collided. Ubon is warm and kind and makes you feel welcome right away. I got the larb (lab) with shrimp. Haven't really had that authentic flavor outside of SE Asia. She uses shrimp paste and if you don't know your stuff this can dramatically backfire but just right and it's outta this world, and this nailed it. My Hubby got pad Thai. It was also good but definitely a saucier browner variation of it, closer to hawker style (like the char Kew Tao in Malaysia) over the dryer peanut heavy version you get wrapped in banana leaves. Kids got fried rice and sate. The peanut sauce was to die for. It almost tasted like it had mint in it, I would have like to eat it by the spoonful it was that good. My guess is she uses galangal and makes it from scratch. The fried rice was also delicious. I'm not usually a fan of fried rice but i tried it while I waited for my dish. It had just the right spices and flavors. It's not crunchy like Chinese fried rice and was not greasy at all. I will say it's pricy but if you want service and authenticity along with a one of the kind experience it's worth it. The house itself is cute. Definitely needing some renovations but it's loved and full of heart. The yard/patio is great for restless kids to explore while you wait or to sit and enjoy a drink afterwards.
