Passing through Stephens City, Virginia on a cross country motorcycle ride and because a couple of other recommended places were closed, 3 of us stopped here for dinner. It is a small place and our expectations were low, but all of our pasta entrees were extremely good and the service was excellent. Limited seating in the restaurant, so this may be a better takeout place, but for 3 guys who ate 35 meals on the road, Sal and Gino's was one of our best.
I walked into this restaurant at an odd time of day, even for me (between 2:30pm-3:00pm ~ ish). Two men were there ready to take my to-go family order. At that moment, no other customers were in the restaurant. I ordered a meatball pizza, steak & cheese sub, childs chicken & broccoli w/French Fries. The man I ordered from walked the order outside to me just as I was going inside to get it. Sweet gesture. He gifted me a can of Coke, too. Upon my first bite of this delicious...
Ok. We spent over $125 on food and it was just ok. Delivery charge was $9 +/- alone. We received our order within a reasonable amount of time.
Here were our issues:
We were at a hotel when we ordered and did not receive silverware, napkins, or even paper plates. No salt or pepper packets.
My husband's burger was ok, he said, but needed salt and pepper. As did the fries, which were lukewarm. But it's hard...
