NOTE: Several reviews here have been met with a reply requesting an email to '[email protected]'. This is not a working email address! (I copied/pasted email address, so this is not a typo on my part. I tried the spellings 'gilbert' and 'gilbert' in case of a typo by Surry Seafood; both emails bounced back to my account.) Apparently they simply want it to APPEAR that the company values your insights. Typical response from Surry: "If you could reach out at [email protected], we would really value any additional insights you'd like to provide." REVIEW: Service and location were great, though the site is quite isolated and quite rural. However, it is only a few minutes from the Jamestown-Scotland Ferry, which was convenient for a dinner trip over from Williamsburg which was recommended in a Virginia Facebook group. The food was generally unseasoned and tasteless, which is no surprise for a restaurant in Virginia. (I am a Cajun who lives very near New Orleans, so I'm used to a different standard of food preparation.) The Steamed Shrimp appetizer looked seasoned but was bland. The red seasoning must be only paprika, which is known for being tasteless. However, the shrimp with clarified butter were otherwise delicious. A bigger problem was the Stuffed Flounder that I ordered. Either the stuffing or the bottom center of the fish was COLD. I do not mean "not hot"; I mean COLD. I had other personal concerns at the end of the meal, and I forgot to mention to the (great and helpful) server. I am concerned about food safety whenever I dine out, and food that should be warm (for taste) but is instead cold presents a food safety issue. The founder also looked as though it had seasoning on it, but I closed my eyes and ate a portion with the most 'seasoning' and it tasted like bland boiled fish. I suspect this was a Sysco stuffed flounder re-heat. Other than that, the view was lovely in the hour before sunset. Go during daylight hours.
This was a hidden gem. We took the ferry from Jamestown. The ride across the river was part of the experience. The menu had a variety of uniquely prepared seafood entrees. The wait staff was very attentive and knowledgeable
Fried clam strips taste amazing with the cocktail sauce! So fresh, so good!
My family had dinner one hour before closing and the food was still immaculately fresh. We had a platter that included flounder, mussels, and shrimp. Good, fresh, and enough for two meals. In addition, food was ready very quickly.
We had the blue crab puffs and a bowl of crab soup for appetizers. Seafood platter and clam strips for entrees. Everything was tasty and the service was excellent. Very clean and friendly restaurant. Highly recommend
Loved the atmosphere, food was pretty good and service was average.
We had short ribs, blackened red snapper, and blackened salmon Cesar salad. Every dish was amazing. The quality of food and service was great, and the prices were very reasonable.
Had the crab and shrimp quesadilla.
The restaurant was exceptionally clean and the water view is beautiful. Steve was our waiter, it was his first day and he did a terrific job! Steve was knowledgeable of the menu, made excellent food recommendations, and was very pleasant. We had fresh fries flounder and fried oysters. The seafood was fresh and delicious.
The chef made my wife cry! With the amazing sea food platter, haha. Very nice restaurant and place to stay the night.

We rented a room and ate at the restaurant every night. Lovely accommodations and delicious food. All staff we encountered were excellent. We will be returning in the future. Thank you for a wonderful stay!
We have come here often this summer for lunch. It has quickly become one of my favorites.. It is by the water, the food is great. It is not super large but a warm atmosphere. Waitstaff is great. Today I had the stuffed flounder and my husband had the Captain combo platter. Both were great. We started out with a cup of the crab soup which was delicious.
We did not utilize a room so I cannot speak to that. We came here for a late lunch and everything was amazing.
We had surf and turf, chowder, Cesar salad with salmon, seafood pasta and a kids pizza. All of us left happy and full.
The service was also great - everyone was very nice and they checked in with us to make sure we had everything we needed.
The outside area was great, we didn’t eat out there but went out to enjoy the view of the water.
Would come back again if we are ever in the area!
Great place to eat along the water.
The atmosphere, the food and the service was amazing. This was my 1st time here, but I will definitely be back!!
