We live an hour and a half away. We called to make reservations for a table by the fireplace. No fire. The “specification “, as per the website was that they would build a fire if temperatures was under 45 degrees. The temperature was 40 degrees. Very disappointing. Specials were good. Crab soup was delicious, but not hot. Waitstaff was very attentive. Doubt we will go back. If someone calls ahead for a table by the fireplace in December , you should disclose that you may not build one.

We had a table of 10 to celebrate mother-in-law's birthday. Waitress was excellent she stayed on top of things but not overbearing. Fried dishes came a few minutes after all other meals were served but when they did come they were hot and perfectly fried. The only complaint was they were out of some of the things we wanted.

This place has great atmosphere and excellent food and drinks. There are lots of gluten-free options for us celiacs, even amongst the desserts. Mickey is amazing.

My husband and I had dinner on a recent Saturday night. We ordered crab soup, fall salad and rockfish special. Each dish was delicious. The soup was creamy and a good amount of crab. The salad strawberry dressing was not overly sweet on greens with apple. The best was the bass served on risotto with lobster cream sauce. Perfectly cooked, flaked apart and perfect spiced to balance the rich sauce. Historic building was carefully renovated. Historic colonial vibe. The tables were full, so it was a bit noisy at first but quieted a bit as a few table emptied.

We felt truly blessed to have found this amazing piece of history. Not only was the company amazing but the food was delectable. I said that if all my tastebuds died and this meal was the last thing I had tasted -- I would be just fine with that. The she crab soup is certainly in my top 3 of all time, along with the crab cakes. The scallops were little clouds sent down from heaven and the pork chop and complementary compound butter were amazing. The sweet potato hash was un-flipping-believable, and then don't even get me started on the dessert...PS they have their own pastry chef so get 1 of everything!!!

There was a big mistake made early on in our meal but it was handled with professionalism. Our first time here and I had the swordfish special and it was Awesome. We had apps an entree and dessert. Ive never eaten so much at such a high end restaurant. Thank you 1710 for turning the night around and making our experience one of a kind. P.S. that little teapot you bring to the table is awesome. We will be back
