Had a great experience at Hohl. The atmosphere and the staff were amazing and attentive. The food options were out of this world. I will definitely be returning to try more of their menu

I have eaten at this restaurant three or four times now and every time I do, it’s been an awesome experience. If you’re looking for a cute, boutique like place to enjoy coffee, but still have the option of eating gourmet level food, then this is the place for you. The food is excellent, and the staff is even better.

I had a very no nice lunch / brunch here. I ordered the omelet. It was not a French style omelet but more like an Italian frittata. It had great flavor and was garnished nicely with micro greens and sour cream drizzle. Thankfully, they mixed up my drink order which was expression over ice. Instead they brought a small plate with two shot glasses. I'm one was the espresso and in the other was sparkling water to cleanse the palate after sips. It was wonderful. The barista (Jasmine) was very helpful and informed me the expression was made from medium today beans from Columbia. The expression was flavorful and perfectly dialed in. It wasn't bitter and wasn't sour, perfect, almost slightly sweet. A wonderful experience.

Leaving this review because I was actually very excited to eat at Hohl based on the reviews, and wanted to share my different experience. While at Hohl, I ordered the life extending bowl and sat outside to eat it. When I took a bite of the life extending bowl I bit into either a piece rock or glass, and it cracked my front tooth. A $30 lunch turned into a $2000 bill, unfortunately.

This is one of my favorite places to go! The food is always delicious, the service is always so friendly and I love the atmosphere. I love to sit outside on the patio on a nice day and sip my Hohl fog which is my favorite. The pastries are always so tasty and beautiful looking that I have a hard time picking just one. Overall, if your looking for a place to come get great delicious food and either relax by yourself or with friends, you will not be disappointed.

3.5 stars. I don’t often find myself in Toano but, if I do, I’m usually more than happy to eat at Hohl. The food is usually very good and the atmosphere is quite pleasant. This time, the service was so slow. Our party of 3 arrived a few minutes after 7:00 am and were the only ones in the restaurant for a good hour so I thought we’d have plenty of time to eat then get to work. I was wrong. We essentially ordered eggs and toast (omelet, avocado toast with eggs, scrambled eggs with bacon and toast). It seems like there were at least 3 people in the kitchen but I could be wrong. It definitely took over 30 minutes, maybe close to 40 minutes, to get our food. At one point, the door to the restaurant opened and one of the people in our party said, “The chef may have just gotten here”. I wasn’t facing the door but about 10 minutes later, we finally got our food. We had to ask for to go boxes so we could scarf down our food then leave quickly. The woman at the register was very nice and apologetic but, with an otherwise empty restaurant, I’m not sure why it took as long as it did. Tried to be understanding but the more I thought about it, the more annoyed I was. However, the food is unusual enough and good enough that I’d come back. If it’s a better experience next time, I’ll be sure to write a more positive review.

Very busy Saturday morning but service and food was delicious! My hot chocolate was heavenly 😋 and the Lamb Sandy was spectacular (just that the potatoes were a little tough?!?) My wife's omelet was enjoyed by both of us...😁! The pastry case was a little light, but the one's left looked tasty. Will return to check ✔️ out the pastries 🍰 and coffee ☕️.....
Stay tuned!

Parking: Difficult parking on Saturday a.m. because of the Toano Farmers Market.

Came here a year ago and absolutely loved it. Was floored by the food. Drove 45 minutes to come here today for Vday and my wife and I were really sad about our visit. It’s a cool place, coffee is outstanding, but the food really missed the mark. I ordered the waffle and it was very dense, covered with a very thick mousse, almond butter, fruit, and a very dark berry sauce. Maybe if the waffle wasn’t so dense it could have held up better? The waffle also just didn’t taste very good. Looking around, many customers had waffles and none ate more than half and they all had a disappointed look on their face.
My wife ordered an open faced omelet with vegetables. Everything was seasoned well, the side of a past was great, but when you cook vegetables in eggs it creates steam which creates air pockets which makes eggs rubbery. It was off putting, so she ate around the eggs.
Last time here was one of the best meals I’d had in awhile, this was tough. It just seemed like some bad menu choices were made.

I have been a regular here, and have always adored it. However, on a visit recently the man who took my order with dairy free milk alternatives (maybe the owner) began prattling off about how people are giving themselves food intolerances and about other health misinformation. It felt like I was being shamed and very inappropriate, especially as a breastfeeding mother of a baby with a cows milk protein allergy who would become sick if I consumed dairy.

solid breakfast menu, and delicious baking goods. we ordered hot drinks that came out less than warm. when we pointed out that we would have like a hotter beverage, the staff instead of being apologetic, they seemed annoyed. there were 2 baristas working out orders, but drinks sat on the counter waiting to be brought to the table. perhaps they need to rethink their process, and have customers pick up the drinks at the counter instead of letting them get cold.

As a WM student I love this place! It’s a nice get away from campus and has a nice area to do work, catchup with a friend or even come alone and relax. First floor has a few tables, and the second floor has tables. Over all I like this place! I will be coming back and I think you all should go here!
Everyone is super nice and friendly!
