Very busy Saturday morning but service and food was delicious! My hot chocolate was heavenly 😋 and the Lamb Sandy was spectacular (just that the potatoes were a little tough?!?) My wife's omelet was enjoyed by both of us...😁! The pastry case was a little light, but the one's left looked tasty. Will return to check ✔️ out the pastries 🍰 and coffee ☕️.....
Stay tuned!

Parking: Difficult parking on Saturday a.m. because of the Toano Farmers Market.

Came here a year ago and absolutely loved it. Was floored by the food. Drove 45 minutes to come here today for Vday and my wife and I were really sad about our visit. It’s a cool place, coffee is outstanding, but the food really missed the mark. I ordered the waffle and it was very dense, covered with a very thick mousse, almond butter, fruit, and a very dark berry sauce. Maybe if the waffle wasn’t so dense it could have held up better? The waffle also just didn’t taste very good. Looking around, many customers had waffles and none ate more than half and they all had a disappointed look on their face.
My wife ordered an open faced omelet with vegetables. Everything was seasoned well, the side of a past was great, but when you cook vegetables in eggs it creates steam which creates air pockets which makes eggs rubbery. It was off putting, so she ate around the eggs.
Last time here was one of the best meals I’d had in awhile, this was tough. It just seemed like some bad menu choices were made.

I have been a regular here, and have always adored it. However, on a visit recently the man who took my order with dairy free milk alternatives (maybe the owner) began prattling off about how people are giving themselves food intolerances and about other health misinformation. It felt like I was being shamed and very inappropriate, especially as a breastfeeding mother of a baby with a cows milk protein allergy who would become sick if I consumed dairy.

solid breakfast menu, and delicious baking goods. we ordered hot drinks that came out less than warm. when we pointed out that we would have like a hotter beverage, the staff instead of being apologetic, they seemed annoyed. there were 2 baristas working out orders, but drinks sat on the counter waiting to be brought to the table. perhaps they need to rethink their process, and have customers pick up the drinks at the counter instead of letting them get cold.

As a WM student I love this place! It’s a nice get away from campus and has a nice area to do work, catchup with a friend or even come alone and relax. First floor has a few tables, and the second floor has tables. Over all I like this place! I will be coming back and I think you all should go here!
Everyone is super nice and friendly!

I like this place but my food & Chai were sadly cold this morning. They have an interesting menu and the food is usually tasty... tho a tad pricey. They weren't accepting cash today, which I think is odd. Luckily, I had a card with me, but wouldn't it have been unfortunate to have had to leave because I couldn't give them their preferred payment of the day?

Hands down best coffee in the central VA/tidewater region! I drive out of my way just to get their cold brew because it’s the best around. Their building and their food all look straight out of a magazine. Everything is superb! HIGHLY recommend!

What a quaint cute little cafe! Baked goods made in house. Excellent coffee and juice menu. Hubby got the money bread and I had the savory tart with prosciutto and fig. We got drinks and food from the bakery bar but will be back for the full experience on a lunch date!
My only negative: I was informed after ordering at the register “um, we’re a cashless business”. SMH

This is my second time to Hohl. It is a 'great little "hole" in the wall' food spot. Food, service, setting is excellent. The only downside is that for the second time Flies are actually landing on the baked goods in the open case. I honestly don't know how the code in Virgina allows an open case that is not a buffet/salad bar where there are temperature controls and sneeze guards. Having been in food service for different years of my life I know that universally, even in other parts of the world nothing other than fresh produce that is still whole, needs to be covered to keep things like this and possible sneezing etc. from contaminating the food. Even other friends of mine have noticed this and will no longer get the bakery items. Maybe clear plastic/glass, pie/cake covers. I got my beautiful cake plate with cover at Ikea.....resteraunt supply places have long rectagular plastic covers for the rows. Or as a suggestion, IE, in Europe, just use one sacrificial item for display of choices and leave the ones served away in a covered area.

I had the lamb sandwich which tasted good but the lamb was overcooked. The focaccia was delicious. Presentation was very nice and this place is really cute. The staff were very nice and accommodating. We will go back.

Such a gem! Met up with a friend per her recommendation and everything was awesome. I ordered an iced dingo latte and it was perfect! Not too sweet, just the right amount of caffeine and great taste! I also ate a cardamom roll (?) and it was to die for. Very cute place with very nice people!

A truly cute a friendly place. My only suggestion is that they either accept cash (it's one of those new "card only" establishments. Call me old school, but I prefer paying with cash.) or at least warn people on theri web site and elsewhere.

The most darling coffee shop with excellent coffee and fresh bites. Their special Dingo flavoring is SO GOOD! Starting to feel like fall with the overnight oats. So happy to have found this little gem!
