I’ve come a few times over the past 18 months or so. Walking into the tasting room the views are really quite nice no matter what time of year. Staff are friendly and have tons of knowledge on wines and grapes. Lovely experience
Came with a bigger group and was able to request a reservation inside. We could bring our own food, the outdoor area in the back was nice with solo stoves, the tasting room was modern, and the views of the vineyards were pretty good. I didn't like how you had to be served at your table and could not go up order yourself like most tasting rooms as this us slowed down and our waitress was a bit rude. The wines themselves are just okay. I did not take a liking to most of the red wines as I prefer heavier bodied reds and for the price of the bottles in an area with multiple options, I sadly would not go back.
Sarah is absolutely wonderful at the Buchanan Hall Market.
I had the most wonderful experience at Slater Run Vineyards! Just a short drive from DC, the property is absolutely stunning with sweeping vineyard and countryside views. I was welcomed with such warmth and enjoyed a private tasting guided by the owners, which made the visit feel so personal and special.
The wines were fantastic, each varietal was unique, from crisp whites and sparkling to rich reds. The bread and cheese charcuterie paired perfectly, and I loved that they encourage you to bring your own food to enjoy with their wines on the property. The atmosphere is peaceful, elegant, and the perfect spot for a relaxing getaway or day trip with friends.
If you’re looking for an intimate, beautiful, and unforgettable wine-tasting experience in Virginia, I can’t recommend Slater Run enough. I’ll definitely be coming back!
It crushes me to write a negative review about a small business. So I’ll begin on a positive note that the winery itself is quite lovely. Hence the 2nd star. Its seclusion, serenity, views, and the fact it has a no-kids policy makes for a very peaceful experience. The wine is great! My fiancee and I tried the Rocketfish and it was a dry but tart Viognier that paired nicely with their milk chocolate bark which is also locally sourced. I wish I could continue writing in praise.
The day we went, the setting was older, well behaved adults. Loved that because we saw no rowdiness nor annoyances. We quickly noticed that we were the only young minorities, which is fine. I’m not so sure it was fine with the staff. We were not met with welcoming attitudes. Kindness? Yes. But the customer-service, impersonal kindness if you know what I mean. We were told its table service only and our waitress came to our table one time. How is it “table service” if we only got service once? We waited nearly an hour for her to return to no avail, so I walked back into the tasting room to make my own order. Nothing. And no, the place was not busy. In fact, we waited so long that it was nearly closing time and people were leaving. Finally, due to the total lack of “table service,” we decided to leave. When we went inside to pay, our waitress told us that she was “sorry” about having forgotten our order. I’ll accept an honest apology, but not a dishonest one. Take ownership of your actions. The waitress did not want to wait on us, and that’s that. I can’t speculate as to why, however, it was not lost on us that we were the only non-white guests who did not receive the same level of service as other guests who sat near us. The crushing part is that my fiancee and I are looking for venues and Slater Run was a major contender. Until it wasn’t. What a missed opportunity.
Really nice and peaceful winery. Can here on a nice afternoon and enjoyed the view and the wine. The staff were friendly and welcoming.
This is lovely Vineyard with a relaxing wine tasting venue with wonderful seating both inside and outside. Definitely try the wine flight to try all their delicious offerings and find your favorite wine. Have a great time with outstanding service and food.
Lovely winery on a wonderful rolling hill estate. On this day it was pleasant both inside and out. They have a good number of adirondack chairs outside on the hillside. The only knock here is that on average the wine is pricy. Most glasses were $12+.
Excellent wine - lots of space. No kids no dogs (so if you are looking for that pick a different place) Had a great time
We were at Slater Run Vineyards for Mother's Day Brunch. The food and wine pairings were well done, delicious and honestly, perfect! The setting and service was outstanding.

I will say that the wines are excellent. It's rare that you find a location where not one, but all of the wines are fantastic. Beautiful area and quiet with the absence of kids/pets.
Now the bad. There are one or two ladies working behind the bar that seem to constantly be in a bad mood. Before signing up for a membership, it felt very different. Knowledgeable about wine and bubbly personality (I forget who signed us up, but she was great.). After that first time...different story. Grumpy and stiff attitudes when walking in. No hello or welcome in. The tasting was brief and professional, but uninspiring. Ended up canceling my membership and going elsewhere.
Nice winery nestled in Virginia wine country. I had the First Bridge Bordeaux. Nice wine with a smooth finish. Great place to stop off on a wine tour.
Great place to go.
Service was excellent
Views amazing
Wine tasting was awesome
I did not like the food options. Staff was very nice.
Do not order the charcuterie tray. They give you a basket with wrapped cheese, packaged crackers, meat in the store pack and expect you to prepare it for yourself. Seriously not what I expected for a very large $.
