The planning process with Helga's was very easy, and Michael was extremely responsive to all of our questions. The food was very good, and the price for the meal for 95 guests was the most reasonable we were quoted. We had a change in ceremony location last minute due to weather and the staff was very responsive to the change in plan. Overall, I would definitely recommend working with Helga's. There were a few issues that we became aware of later on. My husband and I brought our own beer and wine, and after cocktail hour they ran out of some of the wine. We bought what we thought would be plenty, knowing our crowd were not big drinkers, but still we should have bought more. The one thing we didn’t account for was waste. It is perfectly acceptable for staff to clear cocktail tables, etc during cocktail hour. However, after the wedding, several of my guests said that they had near-full glasses cleared from their seats, and would then go to the bar to get more. When staff went out to purchase more wine, they bought a huge amount, the vast majority of which was unused, and we still had to pay for all of it. Helga’s was receptive to this feedback, which I appreciated, and I know this was largely on myself and my husband. I would recommend clarifying your expectations for table clearing and other service details in advance of your event.
Helga’s catered a wedding I recently attended. The staff were very nice! There was also enough staff to serve the appetizers and the food was average for weddings. However, there were a few issues with service. Unfortunately, the bartenders were not prepared to make the pre-selected cocktails, which were relatively simple. They also didn’t know how to pour beer from cans into glass. During food service, the buffet line ran out of plates and the staff failed to come by our table (and a few others) with wine service. At the end of the night, they didn’t have enough coffee cups for the coffee service and when asked for more stated that none were available.
Helga’s caterers is outstanding. From the tasting to the wedding the staff was phenomenal and the food was out of this world. Michael and his staff were very professional and made our daughter’s wedding a day to remember. The table decorations were exquisite and Kristy made the whole evening a night to remember. I highly recommend Helga’s for any wedding or special occasion.
The food from Helga’s was great. We enjoyed every bite (and the leftovers), and all of our guests raved about it. Some even went back for seconds! However, as hard as this is for me to write because the owner was so great, the service staff the night of our wedding was atrocious. The bartenders did not seem to have the faintest idea how to make any mixed drink / cocktail. Something as simple as a gin and tonic, guests were given vodka instead. They used the wrong mixers, told guests we didn’t have a certain alcohol even though it was right in front of them, and poured incredibly heavily. We stocked our own bar and ended up returning 90% of our mixers and only 4 bottles of liquor. This may sound like the opposite of a problem to some people, but when it comes to the safety of our guests, it was very concerning when I learned about all of this. Again, the food was very tasty, but it is incredibly mortifying to have paid for what was supposed to be a high level of service to learn that my guests had to teach the bartenders how to make simple mixed drinks or to show them where the drinks were. I also provided my own silverware and plates, (which we still have a lot of leftovers) and left everything for the caterers to use while prepping dinner. A guest dropped a fork, asked for a new one, and it took 20 minutes to get it. How could it take 20 minutes to find a fork that you put away yourself? They knew where they were. All around, a terrible experience when it came to the rest of the staff. Michael, the owner, was great, but overall experience from our wedding was not at the level of service we were expecting after all of our emails and in person conversations.
Helga's was the perfect solution to our 70 guest wedding in DC. They did an excellent job executing and providing tables, chairs, food, and drink for our special night. We highly recommend their services (and the food is excellent, too!).
Helga’s was incredible to work with for our wedding. We selected the barbecue, for our rehearsal dinner, and created our own menu for the reception. Michael, Chrissy and team were very flexible throughout the entire process, any time I had an adjustment it was certainly we can do that. Their service during the event was immaculate, their presentation of food was gorgeous and the taste was incredible. They were prompt in their arrivals, and went the extra mile to make sure our guests were happy. Thank you all so very much for filling our belly’s on our special day!

We had a fabulous experience working with Michael to cater our 75 person wedding. It’s clear that he’s a pro—he anticipated what we would need given our venue and made the process so easy. We got the Greek meal and people raved about the food! He was also very flexible when we wanted to change up the menu to incorporate some family recipes and adapt to unique layout of the venue. Overall I highly recommend working with Helga’s.
Michael and his team did a phenomenal job catering our wedding at Briar Patch. Michael was extremely helpful with coordinating the menu and logistics as he accommodated all the allergens and substitutions for food.We got the dinner menu with the Intermezzo, which worked out great for the kids and provided a bit of laughter around the table for our guests as they thought that they got dessert after salads. The staff who served my wife and I before the wedding helped us get an actual meal before the wedding reception, and we loved being able to try everything that we picked out AND that the food wouldn't be in any group pictures with our guests. My family told me post wedding how great the staff was as well, so I'm thankful that all aspects of our wedding, both what we saw and what we didn't were enjoyed by all our guests.

Yesterday you catered a birthday party for our neighbor’s 5 year old daughter. I just want to let you know that it was great! The food was delicious and your employees were very pleasant and helpful. It was a pleasant experience for the guests.

We recently had the pleasure of having Helga's Catering cater my husband's birthday party. We have had Helga's catering in the past, and we were happy to have them again. They were so attentive and professional and made our party hassle free. The team was extremely helpful in troubleshooting a problem we had with our tent (which they didn't even have to do, but were kind enough to help!!). They were thoughtful with organizing food, displaying it and plating it and thinking a step ahead, for example, having a cake knife ready to cut the cake before i even thought about it. The presentation of food was lovely and the food tasted great. They also did an amazing job with cleanup. We hope to see you again in the future, Chrissy, Gerald, Cesar, and Carlos!!! Thank you for a memorable night!!
I’m so grateful to Michael and his excellent team. With Covid our wedding plans had to be drastically modified and Helgas was the only vendor that worked with us to find a solution that worked for everyone. The communication throughout the process was amazing and food was delivered on time and setup quickly. In addition to the amazing service and communication, the food was excellent and all of our guests loved it! This was probably the only part of our wedding plans that worked out and I’m so thankful that we have at least this piece to remember our special day. I can’t recommend Helga’s enough and will use them again for future catering needs. Thank you again so much!
I love Helga's Catering they are very profesional and do wonderful parties. They have a lot of Years of experience.
