AJ Gators Sports Bar

Been a customer for most of my life, normally a good place to catch a game with some of my friends when we all want to meet up. This past experience however has completely changed not only my personal views on returning but my friends as well. Took about 15 mins for refills of water, waitress couldn’t remember a single order of ours, our server was inappropriate with one of my friends, was overcharged for a beer to which was sorted out but was given the wrong size. Food has never been the best in my opinion and nothing on the menu really jumps out to myself or my friend group. To end the night we wanted our bill to be split and we broke it down item by item for our waiter, when we got these itemized bills they were completely wrong ! So we just decided to just pay all in one because clearly our sever couldn’t care less about us and our experience. Overall disappointing and won’t recommend for a sports bar.

I have been coming here for years with my friends to enjoy a couple beers, watch games and enjoy my food. Last night (1/3 from 7:30-10) we had a different server than we usually get and her name was Ericka. Not only did she not take my order correctly after I repeated it multiple times but part of my food was missing, came out late after I told her and I was overcharged for the late food. She was extremely inappropriate with one of my friends which I did not appreciate. Then, she asked us if we were ready for our bill but didn’t have anything to write with to help us with splitting the bill so she went to get pad and paper. This gave us the illusion that she cared about how the bills were being split but when we got them they were completely wrong since all of us got food and some beer but one of the bills only had beer, the others just had food. What I can’t comprehend is being a waiter but either not having good listening skills or not caring to listen to your customers. The Kempsville Aj Gator’s will see no more money from my pocket ever again after this recent experience.

I was in there on Friday night 12/27 around 10PM sitting at the bar, there was approximately 6 inches of space between myself and a woman next to me, some waitress in there who knew the woman decided that it would be okay to squeeze into that six inches of space to be all up-close and personal with the woman who was beside me, showing absolutely no regard for my personal space, her rear-end was hovering above my thigh so she was practically sitting in my lap. I don't know if this is a low-key LGBT bar or what, and that is perfectly fine, but the staff should leave me out of their intimate little moments with other people at the bar, I did not go there to be in someone else's kinky threeway experience, THANK YOU VERY MUCH.

For a first timer here, it's quite a small but nice place. TV's on every wall, a bar to the left side, booths and tables to the right for dine in, a smoking room in the back for anyone's needs, and a small jukebox for anyone to play any tunes.
The food here is quite nice with a intresting variety to choose from with sea food and classic American burgers for example. One thing I will have a sad say in is how the food can be made, they make theirs plain which isn't an issue but rather disappointing a bit with or without any additional sauses. I got myself the AJ Gater Combo Platter and it was quite intresting to have, the potatoes were very good and bursting with flavor, the mozzarella sticks were good but the breeding was very soft so they collapse very easily, the onion rings were a bit thick and hard on the onions themselves, the chicken tenders were well cooked, and the wings were smoothly made but with a band inside.
The atmosphere is enjoyable but quite loud sometimes, understandable for it being a sports bar but sometimes it can get quite louder then you would usually think. Besides that the staff were very friendly and helpful, some of them even had humor and made some relatable jokes.
Overall if you're looking for a sports bar, living close by, or like us trying to find a spot to eat then I would reccomend this to anyone passing by.

Very rude staff- since when do you have to hunt down your server and when you finally find her, she is rude and then refuses to serve you claiming you are intoxicated. She was simply mad because I came inside and told the manager I could not find my server. We promptly left.

I am writing to formally express my disappointment and dissatisfaction with my recent dining experience at your establishment on 10/1/2024].

After spending approximately three hours running errands, I decided to stop by your restaurant for a meal. I placed an order for buffalo honey BBQ wings (extra crispy) with fries. After a reasonable wait, I received my food and left the premises without issue. However, as I was driving home and passed by Kempsville Middle School, I decided to eat a wing. To my surprise and disappointment, the wings were improperly prepared and appeared to be undone . They were not cooked as I had ordered (extra crispy) and were far below the quality I expected.

Disturbed by this, I immediately returned to your restaurant and explained the situation to the bar server who originally took my order. I requested a refund due to the unsatisfactory nature of my meal. To my astonishment, I was informed that your restaurant has a no-refund policy and only offers credits. I found this to be incredibly disconcerting, especially considering that there was no guarantee I would return to the restaurant to use such a credit.

In an effort to resolve the issue, I reluctantly accepted a replacement order of a plain cheeseburger and fries. While I appreciate the complimentary drink that was offered as compensation for my inconvenience, the overall handling of the situation was unacceptable.

As a loyal customer who frequently dines at establishments like yours, I believe it is crucial to prioritize customer satisfaction and resolve such issues fairly. Denying refunds and limiting compensation to credits is an unreasonable policy, particularly in cases where the customer is unlikely to return. I would strongly encourage you to reconsider this policy for the sake of customer retention and the reputation of your business.

I hope this feedback is taken seriously, and I would appreciate a more satisfactory resolution to this matter.

I normally really really enjoy aj gators…. But the last three times I’ve been has been not acceptable especially for hiking the prices up. The horrible service rude front staff rude waiters. The horrible food uncooked cold and not correct and again the hiked up prices for the same low quality food? Make it make sense……. For example I get the gator combo have been going on Wednesday for half off (also stating they don’t do this anymore) for YEARS. In my order I replace the wings for mozzarella sticks. But lately if I’m In person or order to go I don’t receive the replacement or the original wings so I’m getting skimped but having to pay the same.. the mozzarella sticks are larger and are uncooked and they taste like they have been cooked in old oil.. I truly did enjoy this place and vouched for it but now? I’ll just go elsewhere

We’ve been going here for years. Prices keep climbing so much faster than every other bar and grill in the area. Otherwise, it’s a convenient location. Food and service are good. We paid $10 for a pint of draft beer. I’d recommend Lendys or other places for more reasonable prices.

It was the waitress Cookie for our rating. Nonchalant. Didn't like the way she was cleaning the table off from side to side which means the mess was falling on the seat or on us. No tip.
