Bangkok Garden, nestled on First Colonial Road, is a true gem for anyone craving authentic Thai flavors in the Virginia Beach area. My recent visit left me thoroughly impressed, and I'm already planning my return!
The ambiance immediately transported me to Thailand. The decor is absolutely captivating, with beautiful Buddha carvings, intricate wall furnishings, and serene statues adorning the space. It creates such a warm and inviting atmosphere, perfect for a relaxing meal.
Now, let's talk about the food! We dove into the Pad Kee Mao (Drunken Noodles) and the fusion Massaman curry, and both dishes were incredibly delicious. The Massaman curry, with its delightful combination of pineapple and potato, was a real standout – a perfect blend of sweet and savory that truly hit the spot.
The Pad Kee Mao, while very tasty, did have a couple of quirks. I personally prefer my drunken noodles with a bit more of that smoky, Maillard-reaction char on the noodles, and this version was a touch on the wet side. Also, the medium-width rice noodles, while perfectly al dente for wheat, were a bit of a surprise since I'm used to the wider slightly over al dente variety. And if I'm being super picky, I could have used a tad more beef in the Pad Kee Mao to match the generous portion in the Massaman.
My only general suggestion would be for the kitchen to go a little easier on the sugar across the board. While both dishes were undeniably delicious, a slight reduction would really let the other nuanced flavors shine through even more.
Despite those minor preferences, Bangkok Garden delivered a truly satisfying and flavorful experience. The food is delicious, the decor is stunning, and it’s clear they put a lot of care into their dishes. If you're looking for a delightful Thai meal in Virginia Beach, Bangkok Garden is definitely worth a visit!

We had Thai xcjange student and she lived to cook.it was like an angel came to my house khwanjira was wonderful.
This is authentic and great. They keep it mild for us Americas. But I think you could request more heat. It is a bit spicy if your not into hot. The ambiance is wonderful lots of wood carvings and golden statues etc.
Very fine experience. You should go

This is the best Thai food I have ever tasted. I got the beef Red Curry and my husband got the salmon Red Curry. It was amazing from the price, portion size, service, and the atmosphere. When we come back to visit VA beach, this will be our new go to spot for dinner. ❤️🥰

Beautiful, authentic food! It was pretty late so my family and I were going to order to go, but decided to dine-in since we were hungry and no one else was there. The service and atmosphere were awesome and food even better. In our time there, many people came in to pick up their to-go orders (could’ve been us too) but they missed out on a lovely experience dining in. We’re new to the area, but will definitely be back again!

Cute restaurant, good service, bad chicken. The chicken breast in the steamed spring rolls was so tough, dry and flavorless it made them genuinely inedible. It was like dirty leather, I swear. The chicken in the laab salad was a little better if only because it was chopped up into tiny pieces and soaked in vinegar, fish sauce, etc. but it was still not tender or flavorful in itself, and I didn’t care for the laab salad dressing compared to other restaurants or when I make it at home. The roasted rice powder may have been handmade, which is great, but they needed to make sure to grind it completely as I would often bite into something hard that I thought was chicken cartilage at first but decided was rice grains that had been left too large.

The lettuce was fresh and crispy and the service and atmosphere was nice, but I didn’t finish either dish.

I didn't know this location was here - I only knew about the one on Virginia Beach Blvd.

Had lunch here with a friend when it was middle of the week and not at all busy. Service was pretty good but not excellent.

Thai tea was great and I had the pumpkin curry. A little spicy but really delicious.

The cucumber salad was great and fresh.
