The food wasn't as good as I wanted it to be. Our peel and ready shrimp were over- cooked

Ordered to go the big fried seafood platter and it was not good. The shrimp although golden brown were raw in the middle, the mahi was not fresh and crab cake wasn't great either. We threw most of the dinner away. Disappointed and like all restaurants today not cheap!

Everything from the moment you walk in the Bartender greet you and tell you to sit anywhere you like to the server I can’t remember her name, but she was so amazing older lady full of energy great server he was on our game. Everything was amazing. There was a young man. He was really cute with like tattoos on his legs like that swords and stuff. He was very nice. Everything was so amazing. The food don’t get me started on the food so freaking gay. My sister-in-law suggested this place and it did not fail us. It came out fast that gravy. What can I say back so many memories and when I was a little kid OK we thank the chefs on our way out. They were very happy and full of energy as well. We will be back. We’re definitely bragging about this place. I work in a restaurant as well in Fallschurch. I’m gonna tell everybody about this place if they come to Virginia Beach. Thank you for a wonderful time.

To whom it may concern - Big Sam’s or potential customers,

High-level overview:

- Service is near about as bad as it gets
- Food is alright to good (wouldn’t go out of your way as we did for a visit and trying something new - Drove an hour from Suffolk)

Detailed overview:

Sucks to pay for a $12 Irish coffee where the bartender doesn’t return a how are you doing to you or say one word to you aside from the price tag, rude to your mom when ordering a nonalcoholic drink, and then trips to ‘spill a splash’ of Jamison into your coffee that you’re already overpaying for. Just not a friendly, good, or welcoming experience whatsoever, I would’ve thought I was at the DMV.

We drove 45 minutes to an hour to get to Big Sam’s, wanting to try something new, we didn’t mind waiting the hour plus we did once arriving because the weather was nice and I had things to do via phone to pass the time. However, in 1-2 months once the Virginia humidity kicks in, that hour plus wait would’ve turned into another reservation down the street.

Our hostess and waitress, they were fantastic. No complaints, promptness and communication couldn’t have been better.

Just an extremely unfortunate experience, but if you’re looking for the silver lining from this review - I tried somewhere new, but I also found a spot I can mark off my list of where not to go and/or recommend to any others, but instead raise caution to others who may be interested.

Went for Saturday breakfast with family. Our server, Amy, was great! It was a nice comfortable relaxed atmosphere. The food was outstanding. The sausage links were my favorite. It's worth going back just for them!

One of the best restaurants for the money in the area.

The only thing we didn't care for was as we were walking up the ramp to front door the trash cans were filthy and smelled bad. We almost turned around and left. But they came highly recommended so we stayed in the food was delicious

Very good crab cakes. Definitely one of the best I've had in the Virginia beach/Sandbridge area. Great happy hour also.

always love eating here! clams
on the half shell and fried clams entree with mashed potatoes and gravy and green beans were solid. great run runner. always a good time and prices are ridiculously low, esp for a resort spot.

A bit crowded, but it is totally understandable because of how wonderfully delicious the food is here. The calamari was exquisite. The infamous big sam's limeade was tasty, and I had to get seconds. I absolutely loved the oyster sandwich and would totally eat it again. Love the fact that big sam's has merch. It is all nifty. Service was wonderful, too!

We ate at Sam's on a Monday night, waited about 10 minutes for a table. The food was very good, cocktails as well, service was friendly but took a little while to get our food. The open kitchen was fun but the cooks were arguing and cussing with eachother so it kind of got old.

Big Sams is a favorite spot in the Virginia Beach area, I had the Steak n Cheese sub with the Calamari appetizer, so good! Loved the atmosphere here.
