Blue Seafood & Spirits

We had a wonderful dinner here. The restaurant is adorable. We started with a yummy blueberry martini. I had the fried oysters and crab cakes that were cooked to perfection. The crab cake was pouring with fresh crab meat. My husband had the fisherman platter and his was equally tasty. One of my favorite parts of the meal was the amuse bouche of a crab and shrimp fritter. We finished up with a heavenly chocolate bread pudding that was so light and airy it was reminiscent of a chocolates soufflé. So glad we had dessert. The service was spot on. Friendly, warm, and efficient. This restaurant is about 35 minutes from our home but we will definitely be back.

Wow! What a hidden gem. We have lived here over 43 years and this by far, the best seafood restaurant we have been to. We were given a gift certificate as a gift and had never even heard of your amazing restaurant. You get 10/10 forks and that is only the second time I have given that high of a rating. We will be back soon, even though its a 40 minute drive to get there! Thank you for everything you offer. Perfection plus.

This has become our favorite local place for our date night dinners! The atmosphere is beautiful, the food is to die for and the staff and Charle’s are AMAZING! I cannot recommend Blue Seafood & Spirits enough!!!!!

Incredible! The Food and Atmosphere were incredible! Best meal we had in Virginia Beach. Loved the welcoming feel of the place Chef Charles met us at the door, took our drink order while we waited (a sort time) for pit table! The food was AWESOME, Madi our server was great. Chef checked on us and made sure everything was perfect and it was. To top it off for Kentucky Folks the Bourbon selection was outstanding. Incredible Night! Thanks Chef and your team!

Fabulous small place with a big heart ! Warm friendly atmosphere googled best seafood in VA Beach and they didn't lie. Start to finish every course well prepaired and presented seasoned perfectly. Highly recomend. What you see on the outside is disceiving but that changes as soon as you walk in the door. A must see !!!!

We had dinner again this evening for a friend's birthday and it was amazing as always. The guys really enjoy Charles' Bourbon selection. Our food was amazing and our waitress was top notch.

The wait was reasonable for how busy the restaurant was. Upon being seated, service was quick and accurate. The restaurant was a bit loud, but reasonably so due to size. The food was very good. I had the Oscar Salmon while my daughter had chicken. Dinner portions seemed on the smaller side, but dessert was pretty large in comparison. I would probably eat here again.

Had dinner here recently with my wife. It's about our fourth time eating here in the past few years. The past meals had been good (not great), so we decided to try it again since it's become so popular on Yelp lately.
To start the service wasn't very good. Our server seemed to rush when talking with us and didn't make much eye contact. I used to wait tables (even was a trainer) and was surprised how disconnected our server was. The "chef" was visible in the dining area the entire time and even dropped off something to try. Unfortunately it was just covered in cheese and not very appetizing.
The food took about 45 minutes and it was overcooked. I had the broiled scallops and they were so overcooked that were shriveled up and sitting on a dry plate!
We were there for just over an hour and the "chef" was in the dining area at least 45-50 minutes. The "chef" seems more worried about the front of the restaurant instead of the kitchen and it shows. Not at anytime did anyone check to see how our meals were.
Sorry, but there is much better restaurants in the area that offer quality dishes for a better price.

As a New Englander, i don't venture into the seafood world in VA Beach. A friend highly recommended Blue, and to say we were mind blown would be an understatement. From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was amazing. Sweetly greeted by who I am assuming is a manager or the owner. We opted to sit at the bar, and i will seriously come anytime Bridgette is behind the bar. The upbeat personality, the sweet conversation, and the knowledge was very impressive. I enjoy going to dinner and getting the whole experience, and Blues did not disappoint. We will be back 💗

My wife and I visited the Tidewater area over the weekend and we were looking for a good seafood restaurant. After looking at all the restaurants, I came across Blue and it was not rated the #1 spot and not sure why because it was awesome and will now be our go-to seafood restaurant whenever we visit the area. To sum it all up, everything was amazing here. More details below. The other restaurants offered a wide variety of food but only three or four seafood dishes and mostly Salmon. Blue offered an entire menu of seafood and it was delicious. We sat down and got our drinks and then we were given a Shrimp Canape instead of the traditional bread. It was sooooo good. I got some crab soup which was loaded with meat not skimping. My wife got fried green tomatoes topped with pimento cheese. I'm not a fan of pimento cheese but these were awesome. The flavor combination was impeccable. Then we ordered and got the flounder with vegetables. My wife got it fried while I picked broiled. While we were waiting, a second hors d'oeuvres came out which were these small, sweet potato biscuit drops. Soft and delicious as they were served with apricot butter. Our food came out and the fried had just enough batter that it didn't overpower the food. It was real light. We finished off with a chocolate bread pudding, which was good but not the best that I have had. Mckenzie was our waitress, and she was awesome. She knew all the specials and was able to give great suggestions. Her personality was awesome too. Patty was the hostess and night manager, and she also was really great. She walked around and took the time to talk. She helped out the staff when they started to get busy but still had time to talk to everyone. As said, this will definitely be a must stop every time we visit the area. UPDATE JAN2025 So about a year ago, Vicky and I were here in VA Beach for her school thing and we wanted seafood. We remembered Blue from awhile ago. They don't take reservations, which I am totally cool with. It stays busy....and for good reason. The shrimp canipe and biscuits are a regular thing. We didn't make it in Aug but we did make it this time and they delivered again. Same great service and wonderful food. I had rock fish special and Vicky had scallops. We have made it our go-to whenever we come down. Blue Seafood & Spirits Great job!

Went for my birthday last night. Food cooked perfectly. And came out fast when we were able to finally order. Our server lacked common sense, but I did enjoy the food and my cocktail and the hostesses were on point.
