Catch 31 Fish House & Bar

Food was amazing atmosphere was incredible the star was our server Samuel he treated my wife and me like celebrities for our 38 wedding anniversary if you have opportunity to dine at Catch 31 inquire if Samuel can be your server he was amazing,

I went online to make a reservation about 2 pm. Open table had no reservations til 6:30. We walked to the restaurant about 5:00 and found multiple vacant tables and were seated promptly (something wrong with reservations). The server was attentive and we got served quickly. My “fresh catch” rockfish was dry and tasteless, not fresh. My rice and asparagus were good. My wife’s crab cakes were mediocre and her clam chowder was good. Not very enjoyable.

Let's start with the wait time for a beverage. We ordered tea, pepsi and cocktail. 25 minutes. Ask for straws 20 more minutes. Appetizers was cold. Returned it and got replaced with hot on top cold on bottom. Entrees were mediocre. I think Catch 31 is hit or miss at point. Because my other visits were on point

Would highly recommend the honey chile sauce... Delish!

Monday early evening dinner at the outside bar was amazing. Beautiful ocean view and live music that was not too loud with gifted talent. Smith the handsome bartender managed to handle the crowd with ease and a warm smile. My Blacked Wild Caught Rockfish with the citrus butter and the Caesar Salad were exceptional. I need a cooking lesson from their Chef! I highly recommend Catch 31.

We ordered the calamari and fish & chips to share for lunch. The calamari was so hard and barely edible. The fish was THE WORST!!! It was bad!! I knew due to it smelling and tasting like ammonia. I didn't smell it until after the 1st bite. The burn down my throat and into the pit of my stomach was horrendous!!! NEVER AGAIN!!!! 1st AND last time!!!! Our server was very apologetic. It wasn't her fault. She took the offending item off the bill and gave us 20% off the calamari since we did eat most of the calamari. I didn't ask for a free meal and I lost my appetite after the fish....

I love,love, love this place . The ambience is nice. the interior and outdoor areas are very aproble for a enjoyable time.
Its nice to eat outside. Even in the winter the firepit keeps you warm. Its at a great place on the boardwalk. Just by the Neptune Statue.
I even love the nautical theme bathroom. Im a Designer who loves the feel you get in certain places.
I haven't been there for a while. It's a bit pricey, but it doesn't seem exhorbitant.
Anyway. I'll add to reveiw when I go again.

Food was excellent! Got the Salmon and crab cakes, and for the dessert the Key Lime Pie. When you come here, ask for Kamryn. The most authentic server. She takes the time to go over the menu. And has a great sense of humor and she’s professional all at the same time. Catch31, give Kamryn a raise!!!! Love, Nashville Couple.

Food was below average.
Shrimp - probably the best thing we got. Just average.
Crab dip - barely ate any of it. Didn't taste good.
Tuna - not enjoyable. There were so many bones that I think they must have added some extra just for me! Lol
Calamari - my son normally loves calamari, he barely ate any.

Service - from the hostess to the waiter - they don't let you forget that they're at work, they don't want to be there, and you're an annoyance.

Dropped two bills for it. Definitely better options close by.

Tried to place a to go order at 9:20 pm on a Sunday 5.25.25 as a guest at the Hilton. Was told that they are not accepting to go orders. Decided to order from somewhere else.

**Update** - We tried the food here our last night in Va Beach. Filet, hummus, Caeser salad. By far one of the worst meals I had during our stay.

Gideon. Let's just start with his name. No, this our third and last night here and we've eaten here for any meal that we've gone out. I will sit wherever Gideon's area is. Honestly one of the most wonderful people and wait staff I've encountered (and I used to be a server). The food is great, too :)

Really wonderful restaurant! I'm not one to write reviews often, if at all, but I feel this places amazing service speaks volumes to how much I felt respected, comfortable, and relaxed in the environment.
We had two waiters in the 5-ish times we were were, Will and Gideon, but we kept asking for Gideon because he was funny and amazing to work with! We need more Gideons. Thanks so much for hosting us!

I ate everything and only had time to add a desert pic here before it was consumed in my maw.

Gideon was our server and was amazing. Very attentive, helpful and friendly. You have a great employee! Would definitely come back when I visit VB again!
