Alex was a really nice person. The food was full of flavor and delicious. Although it took some time, the wait was definitely worth it because everything was fresh and tasty. Moreover, everything was reasonably priced. If you love spicy food, the ceviche was definitely spicy. Personally, I am not a fan of the Pisco sour, but the food was good. If you are in town with your family, this would be a great spot to go to.

Charcoal Chicken is actually true to its name as the inside of the restaurant smells like a summer outdoor charcoal bbq! Whether they use actual charcoal to grill their chicken is still unclear but it sure does smell the part. It's located in a strip mall near Town Center in Va. Beach near a more known competitor, Nandos. The Peruvian grilled chicken is the star of the show although they offer other options such as chicken wings and lomo saltado. It's a locally owned business which is always a plus! I placed a call in order as it is highly suggested since they grill your chicken to order. I still had to wait even as I got there but it was not an issue. I ordered a 1/2 chicken with salad and fried rice. It came with their two house red and green sauces and I ordered extra of each for a little extra. The 1/2 chicken was super juicy and flavorful with their unique seasoning! It had a very distinct charcoal smell and taste which made it even better. The red and green sauces complimented the chicken nicely. However, the fried rice was forgettable and the salad wasn't the best. It was mainly just greens with no dressing provided. The sides I got were disappointing but the chicken still made my meal worthwhile. The chicken is truly the best option here and maybe I'll try different sides. I also want to try their lomo saltado next time. Decent experience!

This chicken is the best chicken I have ever had in my 65 years on this earth!! When adding the sauce or even without the sauce this chicken is scrumptious I mean delicious, delicious!! I drive all the way from Portsmouth Virginia to Virginia beach to purchase chicken from Charcoal Chicken.... It's the best thing going in the 757 area and all over the world as far as I'm concerned.

Today is Friday and the young man at the cashier told me that they close at 8:00pm when they really close at 8:30pm. It seemed like he was in a hurry to close. I had to take my food (1/2 chicken with rice and beans with sweet plantains for $24.79) and the food still wasn't hot. First and last time.Tip: Better customer service and if they are ordering $24 worth of food at 8:00pm let them know it is take out only before they order.

Since moving down here I was looking for a Peruvian restaurant that had dishes cooked similar to ones that my family makes back home in NY. I tried several other places in VB and none come close to this one! This is spot on and everyone is so nice! The pollo a la brasa is never dry and as I keep trying the other dishes they offer I have never been disappointed! They are also the only place that I know of so far that sells chicha morada? 100% recommend!!?Parking: Huge parking lot and always has plenty of space since it’s located on a shopping strip.
