Great brewery, good vibes. Family and dog friendly. Lots of seating.
Good selection of their own beer. We enjoyed stouts, IPAs and sours. They had small pours which was good for lots of tastings.
It's a bit out of the way from Virginia Beach and other breweries but definitely worth driving out to.
Worst speed dating event I’ve ever been to first of all it was very loud and chaotic. The event host was very nice at first but then she turned aggressive and rude to the point where I didn’t even wanna finish the speed dating event. OK, first of all the way they did. The rotations was very confusing and I was pretty much following the person in front of me because I was always raised to follow the leader except the person I was following was the one that screwed it up and I’m the one that gets blamed for it. I can understand that she was bothered by people not following instructions, but at the same time I have those words with me With the microphone turned off Because why you reprimanding me in front of everybody that was embarrassing and humiliating, and I have never been disgusted in a social environment in my entire life. Now all eyes on me and I look like the scapegoat and It left a bad taste in my mouth And what’s worse is it was so chaotic that I didn’t even find anybody. But yeah, this was the worst Valentine’s Day ever and this was the worst speed dating event I’ve ever been to. So poorly managed and chaotic with a very rude event host.
She could’ve easily had those words with me in private without the microphone off, but the moment you put me on blast and embarrass me in front of everybody, Is enough to make a bad impression on me And on top of that, the drinks which were overly priced were a total rip off.
If you're looking for a brewery in Hampton Roads this is the place to go. The best Sour IPA's and pizza its always a good time at Commonwealth.
The food is so good but it does take forever to come out. They’re so busy the service can be incredibly slow. It can also be very difficult to find seating because of how busy they are. But the food is worth the wait sometimes
Unfortunately, this was an exercise in extreme patience and profound disappointment. The service was unacceptably slow at every stage: a 10-minute wait to be acknowledged, 25 minutes for a server to appear, and nearly an hour for mediocre, lukewarm food to arrive after ordering. Despite a lack of crowd on the night we went, the staff displayed no urgency or awareness of the lengthy delays, and no apologies or explanations were offered. While the beer may have potential, it's impossible to enjoy in an environment that so thoroughly disrespects your time and appetite.
Of all my reviews, I believe this to my very first negative review of any company. That's how disappointing Commonwealth Brewery was.
Best beer and incredible food in Virginia Beach.
They have great in-house made beers and they taste great 🤩 Food is amazing and the place is very good, visit here and taste the amazing beer 🤩
The best place for beer in Virginia.... Possibly the world.
Slow and expensive.
Excellent selection. Great atmosphere. Easy Parking.

Commonwealth was a great spot to stop and grab a bite to eat and try one of the many beverages they have on tap. I tried out a bunch of the IPAs and a couple of the sours they had available. All were great. We ordered pizza and salads. All of which were pretty darn good for brewery food. The service was great and friendly as well. We had no issues bringing our little one there as there is plenty of space and WiFi available. I would definitely return to this spot to hang out again. (4.5 if I could but I’m gonna round up)
Brews were great, but pizza was kinda meh…
Well, you've found it. There's nothing Common about it, this place is fantastic. Very fresh, hoppy, crisp IPA's, and the food was top notch. Dogs are welcome outside, and it's a very laid back environment. Cool merch as well, which is always a bonus.
Craft brewing and the brewery scene has got pretty boring and played out across the country in the last decade, but that said, there are bastion's of hope in my opinion in the brewing game, and Commonwealth is now firmly at the top of my list of breweries doing it better across the board then most, and I for one cannot wait to come back!!!
Want to thank Common Wealth for having a super amazing barista, Brooke. Im always sad at the last sip of my coffee. (You guys have great beer too!!) Until my next coffee visit!!!
