The authentic Guyanese food is absolutely incredible and the fact that it's vegan is even better! Anyone would enjoy it regardless of dietary preferences. The staff are so kind. I've been a couple times now and everything I've ordered has been delicious and the experience has been lovely. Will definitely be back and will spread the word to my friends!

Desmond’s Island Soul Grill offers a delectable experience that transcends traditional meat-based dishes and introduces a delightful vegan option that might make even the most dedicated meat-lover consider a plant-based lifestyle. As a non-vegan who appreciates chicken, pork, and beef, I was pleasantly surprised by the savory delights at Desmond’s.The traditional dishes, such as collard greens, macaroni and cheese, and roti, were bursting with flavor and authenticity. Each bite transported me to the heart of the Caribbean, where soulful cooking reigns supreme. However, it was the Jerk BBQ Jackfruit sandwich that stole the spotlight. The Jackfruit sandwich was a revelation. The tender and succulent jackfruit, marinated in flavorful jerk BBQ sauce, was a perfect meat substitute. The combination of spices and textures created a symphony of taste that left me craving more. Even as a meat enthusiast, I found myself thoroughly enjoying this vegan creation.Aside from the outstanding food, the experience at Desmond’s is elevated by the opportunity to interact with the owner. Hearing her journey and passion for creating delicious, plant-based alternatives adds a personal touch to the dining experience. In conclusion, Desmond’s Island Soul Grill is a must-visit destination for food enthusiasts of all preferences. Whether you're a meat lover or curious about vegan options, Desmond’s offers a culinary adventure that will leave you satisfied and perhaps contemplating a newfound appreciation for plant-based cuisine.

Food was beautiful and good. We were told it would be 20-25minutes and had to wait an hour without any explanation or offer of water. A shame. We spent 100 here between my friend and myself and tipped and we had to watch as other orders and people who had come in after us got their orders, dined in, and left before we even got a status.

Some of the best vegan comfort food in the country. The restaurant is small and cozy and the Island flair to their dishes keeps me coming back. They also have a partner vendor that sells excellent vegan ice cream and cookies! The Chana is my very favorite!

So the food was so good, I went back the next day. I called in an order for the jackfruit bbq sandwich at 12:27, came in 30 minutes later and it wasn’t ready. Went ahead and paid and waited a few minutes while they put it together and make the sandwich and new batch of coleslaw. It was taking a while, so I said nicely that I was in a rush to get back to work. The owner responded by saying “it’s coming “ then rolling her eyes and staring at me as if she were trying to enter into an altercation. As a patron this was the most uncomfortable feeling I’ve ever had while ordering food. As a business owner, I understand how difficult it can be to run an establishment but you should treat customers with respect. My husband and I will never visit this place again.

There is a wait, but it's absolutely worth it! The chef and staff are awesome, professional, kind, and considerate. The food is amazing... we had: Arepas, Rasta Pasta with collards and plantains, Oxtail-style Mushrooms with Jasmine Rice and cabbage, a side of plantains, the Hotstepper with chow main and sweet potatoes, wild berry punch and water from The Family Spring!!! I will be back, and I'm bringing my crew!

Came here for the first time last week and WOW! Everything was twice as good as I could imagine! The smell alone when you first walk in is to die for, definitely some of the best food I’ve had in a long long time. We had the jackfruit stew and jerk mushrooms and got banana pudding and some Rasta pasta to go and the Rasta pasta was the star of the show!!! Absolutely amazing! And never in my life have I had banana pudding that good! Not to mention the mac n cheese! First time I’ve ever had vegan Mac that didn’t just taste like nutritional yeast! So so good! (I mixed mine with my rice and peas in the picture) I’ll definitely be a regular from now on! And the portion sizes were unreal! I ate that Rasta pasta for 3 meals! Only thing I personally wasn’t fond of was the stew had a very sweet flavor? But it was still decent and everything else was to die for! All the employees were also very welcoming and you could definitely tell they cared about what they do!

My boyfriend and I just left here and this review couldn't wait. You're immediately greeted when you walk in and given a chance to review the menu before you order. The gentleman at the counter was very warm and polite. My boyfriend and I came here because we are both vegetarians and have a hard time finding restaurants that cater to our dietary preferences. We saw this place on instagram and decided to go because we saw the Rasta Pasta was a hit. After reviewing the menu for just a minute he asked if we' were ready and he then took our orders. We wanted the Rasta pasta with jerk mushrooms. We were immediately told they didn't have Jerk mushrooms nor did they have Rasta pasta stuff. After seeing the disappointment on our face he said they could make the pasta but it would be an hour wait. He also recommended the bbq jackfruit and even let us try it. It was delicious so we agreed to wait. There were about 5 others inside waiting so we understood the hour wait. Along with the pasta we ordered collard greens and plantain as sides. 2 hours and 3 minutes later our food was ready. The pasta was absolutely delicious. The sides were also great the greens just need some seasoning. If you're looking for good vegan food then come here but be prepared to wait a long time for food. Based on the gentleman that helped us I would say the customer service is good.
