over priced for absolutely no reason, 3 people were over $100 and our meals were no more than $18. charged extra because 2 extra people sat at the table and didn’t eat, charged because it was more than 5 people. the person i was with paid $25 for his meal that said $13

Honestly wish I could give it 0 stars. Got charged $19 for 3 tacos. No rice, no beans, just tacos.

They don’t even have the white sauce for the chips which is a staple in this area.

First time at Gran Maya Mexican Grill. Not sure why it took me so long, but they've been on my list a long time.

Unfortunately this review is tardy, my apologies. I dined with them for an early weekday meal in mid May. Upon arrival there was plenty of parking in their own lot.

A friendly hostess seated our party of five with menus. We had a waiter bring waters as we decided on our food. The dining room was spacious and spic and span. The bar sets in the center. There was almost no guest upon arrival. It filled in to some degree with military with the base nearby.

Our waiter set us up with chips and salsa that were ok taste wise. They do not offer the white sauce I prefer. We decided as a table to get table cause guacamole. The staff was great and it's bit of a show to see it made in front of you. Tipping is optional, but we did. We all agreed it was tasty and more than enough for five.

I ordered the steak ranchero that's a ribeye, refried beans, rice and two eggs. It pricey, but proved to be delicious meal. Others ordered various items and enjoyed. All meals were delivered at the same time within 15 minutes. There was also a quick check, but then no follow up for water refills unfortunately.

Overall a good experience and would return. I will say Mexican is no longer a reasonable meal out anymore.

One of my favorite Mexican restaurants in Norfolk. Don't confuse with Luna Maya. You feel the authenticity when you walk in. Great drink menu and great food. Whether you're dinning in or taking out, it's a win-win. Chile Verde is my go to. Birria tacos are popular as well. The margaritas hit hard.

We've been to a few of the other Mexican restaurants in the red mill area, we tried Gran Maya since the photos looked good and we didn't want to go to the others, for reasons. Gran Maya is really beautiful inside and out. There's lots of art and it seems to honor the culture.

We enjoyed all of the staff interactions and we had a great time here. They don't serve white sauce with the red salsa. The chips were nice, the red sauce had a tiny bit of spice and depth. The table side guacamole was wonderful. Our food was really great too. I was surprised by the ground beef flavor and the black beans were amazing.

We'll be back here, it's worth making a special trip! Margaritas were great. They didn't have the special tequila in stock but they were able to recommend a small brand that was delicious and herbal, they have to special order it. The menu was nicely extensive with lots of dishes not common to the typical Mexican restaurant in the area.

Our family tried Gran Maya for the first time today. We loved it! Great food, great service and can't wait to go back. I highly recommend giving Gran Maya a try, it's now one of my favs.

Taxes are outrageous, $50 worth of taxes on top of the food price and extra for paying with a card. On top of that a fruit fly was crawling all on my food!👎🏼
