This was one of our favorite restaurants pre-Covid this evening, was very disappointing. Number one you pay first. You're seated you are handed plastic, spoons and forks. What happened being environmentally friendly ? food was not up to par and to top it off they discontinued their ice cream, and that was always an all-time favorite to end our meals

Awesome buffet restaurant with awesome hospitality.. the lady with tattoos was really attentive to all our needs. The food was super yummy and not expensive as well. overall good experience.

Should have known better. Somewhere I have a memory of places like this being somewhat decent or maybe I was young and didn't know. Either way... Good luck!

This is the only hibachi style buffet that makes u pay up front, and now I think I know why, because if I had seen what was in store, I would have left immediately and not pay. I came here accidentally thinking it was some other hibachi grill that I come to when I come to Virginia Beach. The other bad reviews are not exaggerations. The food looks like it was there for hours, the selection is meager compared to similar types of buffet, and I saw a bug crawling up to my plate. The taste is bland. There’s a sign that recommends a 15 to 20% tip for the servers. That is not typical for buffets.

The food is not fresh what so ever. Very disappointed. I would not recommend z only giving two stars because the fries were good and my baby like the Lo mien (which was bland).Avoid if you can.

I LOVEEEEE this restaurant so much and it’s my favorite restaurant by far in Virginia Beach. The amazing quality that you get is to DIE FOR for the low price point and I will continue to go here for years and years. I love this restaurant and their food with my heart and I have for years. Sad to see all the fake negative reviews.

This is NASTY! 0/10 would not recommend! please just stay at home and eat a grilled cheese! cause this is not it. food was so nasty! you wouldve thought they just caught the fish and it was marinating in sea water! LITERALLY! It was so dry and disgusting!

LOL Why do I do this to myself... Perhaps its because I just really like buffets. *shrugs*Buffet City was literally one of a handful of restaurants in Virginia Beach that was open on Christmas Day. And I was in the area, originally wanting to go to Guangdong Taste, but of course, they were super packed and the wait for a table was almost an hour, so I'm like, what's the worst that can happen? Chinese-owned buffet for $20 and change. It's been almost eight years since I've been to a buffet that you stand up and walk to the different stations and grab food yourself. Especially after Covid, you would think these kinds of restaurants don't exist anymore because of the higher chance of cross-contamination and exposure but I guess Buffet City is still managing to hold down the fort. Once you go in, you go to the counter, they'll ask how many in your table and what you wanna drink. You'll pay for the meal at the counter and then the waitstaff will show you to your table and from there, you're free to go and grab your food. There's four rows of different food, ranging from very Americanized Chinese food, to some very basic "Japanese" sushi rolls, fruit, jell-o and cake. Some of the Americanized Chinese dishes I saw were sautéed button mushrooms, steamed tilapia, lo mein, orange chicken, general tso's chicken, hibachi chicken, teriyaki chicken, chicken skewers, sautéed green beans, fried rice, just to name a few. For me, many of the dishes were quite greasy. However, not many of the dishes were overcooked, which was a surprise. 90% of the stuff served here, I wouldn't order at any authentic Chinese restaurant I go to, but I made do with what was available. I tried to incorporate equal portions of vegetables to balance out all the heavy meat dishes I had.All in all, it was okay. Service was decent. (The waitstaff were surprised to find out I was Chinese when I spoke Mandarin to them...They were like, holy crap, you're the tallest Chinese person we've ever met) LOLIs the food edible? Sure. Will you get sick? Depends on whether or not you have a sensitive stomach. I'm blessed with a black hole for a stomach, and rarely ever get sick from even bad food. Will I ever come back? Probably not. This was a one and done experience.

One of the worst buffets I’ve ever been to ! The workers are cooking just for them to eat fresh buffet for themselves! This place should not be in business close immediately! Everything old and cold quick way to get food poisoning! This place does not deserve any stars at all! Over price, terrible service and quality of food ! Not worth the money RUN !

I went for lunch12:40 Thursday. I checked the reviews before I went in, some were new and mixed but most were older so I gave them the benefit of the doubt. Did the Mongolian grill, which was ok. Got a few things from the regular buffet as well. The items that were hot and fresh tasted good. They are doing steps to keep everything on the buffet fresh, by not putting as much of each item so it can be refreshed as needed , but to keep things really fresh, you need to have a lot of people eating here to keep the presented food fresh. Honestly it looks like they are trying to truly recover from whatever losses they had from the whole Covid situation. I personally will try them one more time in January to see if they are able to get back to how they were when I first went there Pre Covid, if they do that would be great, if not then it would be my last.

My son ate a piece of chicken that wasn't quite done, because something was moving around in it.. Soon as we got to our car, my son began to vomit all over the place.. Dont eat hear y'all.. I REPEAT.. Do NOT eat here

I will not bring my family here again.. Today we had lunch.. My son ate a piece of chicken that wasn't quite done because something was moving around in it.. The manager claimed it was the cooking oil in the chicken that was moving around.. What a joke, the food wasn't even hot.. Soon as we got to our car, my son began to vomit.. We're at the ER right now and I will be reporting this nasty place to the Department of health... I would give them zero star rating

Absolutely terrible. Worst food/ buffet experience my family and I have ever had. Food was old, cold, and hard. Very poor.
